This is a rustic lodge built near a favorite location of President Theodore Roosevelt in Yellowstone. There are two fireplaces,... a family style restaurant, a lobby bar and a front porch with lots of rocking chairs. Nice place to sit and relax and really hasa cowboy feel.we went there for a late lunch which was pretty good. Read more

I was so excited to get the chance to eat here. A front porch adored with rocking chairs and benches wait for your waiting... pleasure. Grab a drink at the small bar. If you don't drink ask for a huckleberry lemonade. Sit back and relax while they getyou a table ready. Our wait was not long and the food was delicious. All of the staff is super friendly and so kind. Make sureyou check out the trails behind the building Read more

The poor service was comical for a while, but my good humor wore thin by the end. Being that the Dining Room had only just... opened up for the season about a week before we arrived for lunch, I do extend some benefit of the doubt in the stars, althoughI still wish to document the experience for posterity. We waited on the porch for a short while, which was just fine given themarvelous rocking chairs out there and any given view in Yellowstone. They were able to seat our party of six pretty quickly, though, a real rarity during our time in the region. But things went downhill from there! My first perturbation was that, according to our server, they do not serve libations (read: liquor) until after dinner. Well, I wanted a dadgum whiskey, and Ifelt like Mr. Roosevelt would be turning over in his grave if he knew that a lodge named in his honor was withholding libationfrom a paying customer. (I have since discovered that T. Roose actually sued for libel when a journo called him a drunkard, andhe claimed in court to have only enjoyed the very occasional mint julep.) The Dining Room would consent to serve me a beer, alocal cream ale that I quite enjoyed, albeit not as much as I would have a whiskey or cocktail. Also, our silly server firstasked if I meant beer "like, with alcohol?" WHAT?! The comical portion of the experience came at the expense of one of ourparty who kept ordering things that were not available. Bison Tamales. "We actually don't have that." The Quinoa-Crusted Shrimp, then. "We don't have that, either." Poor thing ended up with a gosh darn grain bowl! She also wanted some hot tea, but ourserver didn't know what hot teas they had. It took her about an hour to get back to us on that, and then many minutes more tocome back with an "Oops, we actually don't have green tea like I said, but here's some other kind of tea you didn't order!"Finally, my sister-in-law inquired about the ice cream, our server referred us to a desserts menu, said menu said Read more

Enjoyed the best steak dinner ever, in this wonderful lodge setting restaurant. Was a bit of uphill mountain drive to get there... but so worth it. The food was superb, great menu nice wine list and friendly staff. Visited in the summer, few years ago andthere was a line and long wait at supper time. Fond memories of this place would love to visit again some day. Read more
