The food was great. Very friendly service. There is only outside dining because of the fire but it was nice. It was a lot... cooler than in town. They had a couple people playing music and it was nice. I would go back for sure. Read more

Refreshing drinks, tasy bites, and most importantly wonderful people. We stopped by to grab a simple coffee and sandwich and and... ended up chatting with Karen and her friend Christelle for an hour about the story of the Rock House, the recent wild fires, andhow they're persevering through it all. It was one of those serendipitous encounters. Don't miss their delicious breakfastsandwich, four berry smoothie, and homemade lemon bars. They also do live music! Read more

This place is an oasis for people craving some coffee and food. It is historic and run efficiently by a couple who live right... here. I liked their croissant with ham and cheese with an extra sweet iced mocha. Read more

The Feather River Scenic Byway route winds through the magnificent Feather River Canyon Few California highways feature such... natural beauty and diversity in terrain, landscape, wildlife and elevation as the Canyon Route If you like history stopping bythe Old Rock house is a must. In 1915 Frank Barton Jr. moved to Yankee Hill with his father Frank Barton Sr. They filed twomining claims near the site of the future Rock House. After his father died in 1935, Frank Barton Jr. sold the land to StephenDetlow Detlow?s filed a 20-acre mining claim near the Rock House site on the property they acquired. Stephen also startedbuilding several stone structures on the property When completed the stone structures served as a gas station and eatery. Itwas originally called ?The Detlow?. Some years later, the name was changed to the ?Rock House? The Nov 2018 Camp Fire in ButteCounty, Ca was devastating to many people in Butte County Concow and Yankee Hill were always small communities (approximately300 people total) with few amenities, but their history goes back to the 1850?s This area was blessed with several historicstructures from the past but in 2018 they lost the Lunt home, the turn of the century Armbruster home, both on Nelson Bar Road, the 1949 Grange building on Big Bend Road The only places left in Yankee Hill and Concow to informally gather are the oldMessilla Valley School House and two eating establishments, The Rock House and Scooters. We need to support these few remaininghistoric structures so these important fixtures in the community?s identity still exist for the current residents and those thatwant to rebuild and return in the future The owner Karen McGowan has really made this place spectacular. The food is satisfyingand the atmosphere is welcoming. They serve cheeseburgers, hot sandwiches, soup, pizza, salads, bagels and sweets. They alsoserve Beer, cocktails and Wine Come check out the rock house at 11865 CA-70 Yankee Hill, Ca 95965 Their Read more

This is a must stop spot on highway 70. A cute cafe with super friendly staff. They had a good idea for food options even for... vegetarians. The stone build was burnt in the paradise, and the owners have creatively adapted by creating beautiful outdoordining in the ruins. It Nice to see a small business trying everything to bounce back after such a tragedy. Read more
