Reviews for The HIVE Tasting Room and Kitchen in Woodland, CA
I was looking for a place to eat with outdoor seating area and stumbled across this gem. Place was actually a tasting room with... a surprisingly variety of food choices. I like that they have vegetarian choices as well.\n\nMy friend and I had the little gemsalad, beet salad, mezzo board, grilled cheese sandwich and apple cider drink.\n\nLittle Gem Salad\nThe salad was a mix ofradicchio and endives sprinkled with breadcrumbs. The endives were incredibly crisp with sweet/nutty flavor. It also had apleasantly hint of bitterness. The vinaigrette took the salad up a notch perfectly balancing all the different tastes by addinga sweet, sour and savory flavor. It also helped the crumbs cling to each individual leaf rather than falling to the bottom likecroutons. Croutons are so yesterday lol. It\'s almost like breading for your salad. Sinfully tasty!\n\nGrilled Cheese\nLet mepresent to you this photo of the best grilled cheese sandwich. It hails from the Hive tasting room and it completely blew mymind. Picture two perfectly toasted slices of focaccia bread (probably dipped in butter, or at least one can hope), stuffed withmelting lamb chopper, gouda cheese, dijon and caramelized onions. The sandwich is served alongside a cup of creamy tomato soup.Definitely a must try.\n\nMy friend had the beet salad. I had a taste of it and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the mezzoboard with the yummy hummus alongside the olives, veggies and bread.\n\nCustomer Service\nBeatrice took our order and served us.She was amazing. We had questions about the mead tasting and she answered it thoroughly. She was super friendly andprofessional.\n\nRestrooms were clean and parking was ample. Not sure where you would park if it\'s crowded...maybe streetparking. Restrooms were clean. Overall, love the ambiance. Lots of seating outside and makes me really comfortable to dine outwith lots of room for social distancing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place! Read more
I love the honey but I don\'t think the business allow for a sampling of the mead based upon their limited hours. A 5pm closing... on a Friday prevents a TGIF. I tried to redeem the free appetizer coupon but everytime I went it was not possible to redeem thecoupon. I will continue to get there for my honey because I love the Coriander and Buckwheat honey...but my schedule does notmatch when the mead is being served. Read more
Several nice varieties of mead. Quite good. Be aware, the selection of meals is rather limited, even on normal days. And on a... night when there is a small concert playing, they pare down the menu even further. (The evening we went, they only offered twomeals and eloté as a side dish.) In all fairness, the food tasted great... just not as many choices available as one might atfirst expect.\nThe band that night started with \"Oldies\" but then drifted into pleasant, easy-listening Latin music... loudenough to hear, but not loud enough to prevent a conversation among friends.\nOverall, it was a very pleasant venue. We went here for a mead flight tasting and dinner on their October Halloween event. Shout out to their DJ, whos also one of the... employees during the week, he was playing a great mix of electronic/house music that was perfect for an outdoor venue at night. For anyone afraid to try mead- its just like a hard cider or sparkling wine experience, just honey based, that also does notmean that all the drinks taste sweet, some are dry. We learned from the very helpful staff that one of our samples usedchampagne yeast, which gave it a classy bubble. The food here absolutely rocks, we had a pumpkin soup, spatzle mac and cheese, brussel sprouts and a pumpkin cheesecake thing in a jar that used chevre cheese as the base. Blew my socks off. They were givingaway free cookies and honey sticks, what else could you want. Everyone is friendly, the grounds are gorgeous and it fitsperfectly with the Woodland upscale yet comfy farm vibe. We\'ll be coming back! Read more
