Reviews for Sakura | Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi in Woodland, CA
Two of us visited Sakura for lunch on a slow Monday afternoon. We ordered four different rolls and beef teriyaki. Everything was... mediocre and not at all fresh tasting. We left a lot of food on the plate because we were concerned with potential foodpoisoning. With 18% tip we paid $48. Service was bordering on surly. The restaurant itself was stuffy and too warm. Would notreturn. Read more

We came here for a coworkers farewell luncheon. The chef was not super friendly nor skilled. I mean, I can't do what he did, but... I have seen more skilled hibachi chefs at other hibachi places, like Tokyo Steakhouse. He didn't listen to my friend who toldhim "no onions" at least 3 times. I don't know what's her beef with onions, but when he went to serve her, she said "no, I saidno onions." He didn't say a thing. Made a little mess of rice pulling it back and left (without a word). He did come back withfresh rice that he quickly heated and served her, but again he didn't say anything. His actions were entertaining though, and Idid include some videos somewhere. The food, though, was pretty good. The mushroom soup... I would go there again just for that. It's savory, earthy sweet, delicious. I do wish it had more mushroom chunks. One of the people I was with said they don't evenlike mushrooms but the soup is bomb. The fried rice was very flavorful and had some delicious chunky zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots and onions. The scallops were ok. Slightly overcooked, which I noticed as he was cooking them - good flavorthough. It's hard to get scallops just right. I was disappointed in the calamari. I was envisioning calamari steak. It was not. But, it was still delicious, fresh and not rubbery. Overall, 3 or 4 stars because you expect the best when you're paying $20-$30or more for a plate. The hibachi table is always a good time. It's great for families or friends, and you never know who you'll meet. Food was... delicious, as always. Can't wait to go again. Read more
Came here thinking the food here would've been good, because of the name; we have a Sakura back home and this definitely isn't... the delicious hibachi I know. I'm glad I got this as a lunch special and didn't spent more than $15 on this place. It was agreat set-up, warm, friendly service, but the food just wasn't all that great, except the piece of candy included in the box! Igot the hibachi chicken plate, and the yum yum sauce was bland, watery and not what I'm used to. The veggies saved the day, andthe amount they give you... I would only go back if I had the time to add my own flavor, but then, what's the use? Read more
Update: Glad they're open for dine-in once again. As usual it didn't disappoint. Two years ago: In the area once again and in... search of a good sushi place. This was actually our second choice as the first one had a very long wait time. Husband and I werenot disappointed... husband ordered Salmon Dream and Double Tuna Roll and I ordered miso soup and Beef Yaki Soba. All weredelicious that I ordered another Double Tuna Roll for myself. We will try the Teppanyaki next time we're in the area. Servicewas okay and plenty of parking space. Read more
Where do I start? Well my husband took me there for our anniversary. Immediately I liked the atmosphere. The hostess was very... friendly, polite and accommodating. Our server was the same. We ordered a meal designed for 2 and 2 appetizers. The chef was topof the line and also very friendly and polite. We had so much food left as you can see from the pictures of the plates I'm goingto post. This is after we were done eating. We had this much food left. The bill was very very reasonable. Overall an A plusexperience. Oh also they have regular dine in and a hibachi grill. We ate at the later. Read more
