Who would think that such a small village could have this outstanding charmer of a restaurant. The food could not be any... better! I've eaten out at some Michelin 3 star restaurants and they have nothing on this place. Quaint, friendly and unique. They use locally sourced fresh food and everyone at our table (7) was blown away. We shared 4 small plates and all weredelicious. I had the Salmon w/sweet potato and cabbage, both prepared in ways that I've never had before and they werewonderful. My husband had the walleye w/ 3 shrimp and said his was perfection too. Anyway, please give it a try when you havetime for a leisurely dinner. It's slow food at it's best! And, the desserts are divine too! Read more
Excellent farm to table restaurant with options for every palate. We had the teriyaki chicken and the seasonal ravioli as... entrees and the crostini and gumbo as an appetizer. Delish! The wood fired vegetables had a distinct and unique flavor - superb! The cocktail menu was extensive and service was prompt and comfortable. I loved the easy atmosphere and historic charm. One ofmy favorite things was watching them cook in the oven through a window?it felt like being privy to something intimate andfascinating. We will definitely be back! Read more
Wow!!! 5 Stars just doesn't seem enough for this hidden gem! Tonight, had the pleasure to experience a 5 piece jazz band came... out of retirement from Chicago & boy were you in for a treat!! These folks know how to play! It sure made you feel like you werein the movie, The Great Gatsby or roaring 20s! Lest not forget the service, food, ambience also incredibly amazing in their ownways! There were all sorts of drinks to choose from. We each picked a few. The food is slow cooked & believe me it's worth thewait! Everything was to our liking including the homemade desserts.Yum! We had early reservations & stayed till 8. The table isyours for the night & there's no rush to anything & that's the most beautiful thing bout it all. They take care of you! We willspread the word & definitely come back! Thank you for a delightful B-Day dinner for my wife, we knocked it out of the park!! Read more
We had the pleasure of our first dining experience at Farm and Hearth Wood-fired Bistro tonight and we were beyond... impressed. They offer a charming, unique, and relaxing environment, and welcome you as their personal guest, not just anothercustomer. They literally have a hand written reservation waiting for at your table (which was I felt was a really cool touch ofawesomeness); and you can watch the meals prepared in their old style stone hearth oven. Aside from the warm old countryatmosphere, the quality and taste of the meal was superb. With seasonal entrées and drinks available, we left with satisfiedappetites and will return again with friends and family. This is a family owned and operated restaurant, and it reflects thequality and personal touch from a time when dining out was an intimate experience, not just a meal away from home. Read more
If you?re thinking about going, don?t think - JUST GO! This was one of the best meals I've ever had and since I am a big foodie... from Milwaukee, that should say something! We didn't make a reservation but went on a Thursday night around 5:45pm and thewaitress, Iris, (Chef Jeff's daughter) greeted us with a warm smile. Right as we walked in we felt at home, smelled AND saw Jeffcooking in the hearth through a glass window, and I just knew it was going to be a memorable meal. Iris gave us menus to lookover and I was very impressed with their list of cocktails that were both unique and affordable. The Spiced Cranberry OldFashioned was sweet and warming and the Black Cherry Sling with their house made black cherry syrup was fruity andrefreshing. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs for sure, but I don't regret a thing. My husband and I immediately decidedon the bacon wrapped dates. They came 4 to an order, were crisp yet tender, and still sizzling in their cast iron dish. Thesewere the best we ever had! The wood hearth made the sweet, salty, savory, crispy, smoky, and creamy flavors just sing. Theroasted brussels sprouts came in a light olive oil and apple cider mustard glaze with cashews. Another layer of flavor from thefresh green apple slices on the side gave it a little zing and tartness to balance out the dish. The french onion soup wasincredible! The onions were cooked perfectly, the broth was well balanced and not overly salty, with depth from the red wine. The provolone cheese was browned and bubbly on top. Entrees: They had a local rainbow trout special and I couldn't recall thelast time I had rainbow trout (if it all). It was cooked perfectly: flaky, moist, and the flesh slid away so easily from theskin. It was super fresh, mild and seasoned perfectly with flecks of sea salt, pepper, herbs, and butter topped with grilledlemon. The wood fired oven cooked the fish beautifully leaving the edges a tad bit crispy with a light smoky finish. That is a Read more
Wish I had photos of the amazing food. Was too busy eating it up so quickly. The owners are so kind, a family run business with... everyone involved. The cocktails were just as good as the food ?? Read more
