5 star food, 1 star wait. We waited for about 2 hours in line, with the line starting in the parking lot by the water (please... see my picture). Many people's review says its the best lobster roll they have had in Maine. I am going to be honest and saythat it was not the best lobster I've had, but it was for sure the largest lobster roll I've had. They stuff the roll with 2-3times the amount of lobster other places put. It was essentially having lobster with a side of bun. A good lobster roll to mehas the prefect balance between lobster and bun. We also ordered the fired scallops, which were phenomenal. Would I wait inline again? Nope - I would not stand in that line for 2 hours again. However, I am glad that I did just to experience this greatMaine classic. Hope this review helps you decide if you should join the line for the 2 hour wait! Read more

First of all let me say, this place is worth every minute of the wait! I waited for 2 hours and met several people from other... parts of the country. Had a great visit and even sampled terrific shrimp while in line. The service when I got the front of theline was top notch. The people I know interacted with were kind/informative/efficient. The lobster rolls? not only the mostdelicious I?ve ever had, but TONS of fresh lobster on the roll. They were served with hot butter. We also got the onion ringsand they were unique with a scrumptious sauce! The big surprise here was they offered 100% beef hotdogs for only $1! This wasable to offset the amount we spent for the adults, and the kids raved about them! Keep in mind? CASH ONLY!! Read more

First I want to start by saying, I hate waiting very long at a restaurant. But after seeing all the "best lobster" awards Reds... has gotten over many years we just had to detour through Wiscasset, Maine and give Reds a try. Yesterday was a beautiful daywhich made the wait much easier. We arrived to a line about 150' long waiting to get to a single order window of this iconicshack type food stand. While waiting in line we met folks traveling from everywhere all with a common goal of try a Reds lobsterroll. It was a group of young and old all socializing to kill time. I was amazing to see so many people talking friendly to eachother. During the wait one of the Reds employees would delivery cups of cold water to keep all the customers hydrated buthungry One hour and fifty four minutes after arriving at our place in line at Reds, we were rewarded with the absolutely bestLobster Roll, possibly in the country. Besides the taste, there was enough lobster meat to feed two. For the first time in mylife I left half a bun in order to finish the mouth watering fresh off the boat lobster meat. A lobster roll consists of lobstermeat, fresh drawn warm butter and some variation of a hot dog bun. One might think there isn't much difference until you tastethe freshness of Reds. Keep up the fabulous work Reds. You deserve the many years you have been in business. The many travelshows and food awards you have received can't come close to explaining the experience it is to bite into your lobster Read more

5 star food, 1 star wait. Granted, they can't help it and they do their best handing out water, umbrellas and the occasional... snack for your journey up the line. You have to know you're going to wait, and you have to be OK with it. We ordered lobsterrolls, because obviously that's what you go for. I can't say they were better than the best lobster roll I've had, but there wasenough lobster meat for 2 buns on 1 roll. Couldn't even tell there was a bun beneath. Bun was toasted with butter (definitemust) and had the lobster on top. Comes with a side of butter and then mayo upon request. We waited 2 hours on a Saturday ofLabor Day weekend, and rolls were $25/ea at the time. Not sure I'd wait again, but it was definitely worth to do at least once. Read more

We stood in line for over 2 hours, and I kept hoping it would be as good as our friends had told us. We were not disappointed at... all! We both ordered the lobster roll; I got fries, my husband got onion rings. The lobster roll had so much lobster on it youcould not see the roll underneath. And the price is only $25! While in line, we were offered cold water, a piece of friedshrimp, an umbrella (it was sunny), and a freeze pop! ?Very nice of them to consider their customers as they stood outside in along line. It was well worth the wait! We?ll definitely go back! Read more
