Fantastic Lunch! With limited options for lunch in Old Salem our expectations were low and were we wrong. Our party of 3... enjoyed the Mediterranean Plate which was the least favorite of anyone. Or sandwiches were ALL delicious which included thechicken salad, roma and turkey reuben. Everyone raved about how wonderful their sandwich was. They had a guitar playerentertaining diners in the basement room and table service that was friendly and thoughtful. It's in a basement in a 200 yearold building but everyone knows that going into it. Don't be swayed by some of the complainers reviews here. Complainers aregoing to stick to what they do best but if you're in Old Salem and looking to sit down and enjoy a bit in a real historicbuilding, you won't be sorry to tried Muddy Creek Cafe @ Old Salem. I don't know what died inside but it smells really bad In here. We decided to eat outside but even the food smelled like... whatever the musty damp smell was. I couldn't even finish my sandwich. I felt really sick afterwards, and the rest of my timetouring Old Salem I had that horrible smell stuck in my nose. I miss the old restaurant, this isn't even Old Salem themed, justlike Americanize sandwiches I could find anywhere. Read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. Waiting 50+ min for a cold sandwich, people had been waiting an hour plus and not a single... person inside or outside had gotten their food yet. Just a cafe full of people waiting for food but no food at their tables. Fora $12 sandwich this is just ridiculous. Could have a least told us about the wait time. The cold sandwich pictured took 1 hourand 8 min for them to make. I have spent over a decade working in kitchens, this is just unacceptable. Edit: I am sure theirservice isn't always like this, but on the day we went it was extremely lacking. Read more

Expensive for what it was, and we waited an hour for our sandwiches. Pretty disappointed they didn?t warn us about the long wait... for food after ordering considering the museum is only open for five hours. Feels like we wasted a big part of our day at themuseum waiting for food like a BLT, PB&J, and a panini. Would recommend bringing your own lunch do you don't waste time. Read more

I ordered a hot Italian and was very disappointed. I had to pull it apart to make sure that all the meat was there. The meat is... sliced razor thin. The entire thing tasted like bread. Way overpriced foe what little you get. They also had a guy singing andplaying guitar in the restaurant, the problem was it was so loud you could not even talk to someone next to you. Read more

Authentic atmosphere and a variety of options for dishes and drinks. Corn chowder soup was so tasty and good enough to make me... feel warm. Panini was well cooked with healthy ingredients. This place will be our go-to lunch restaurant. Read more

Shockingly good and fresh salad. Cozy environment. Highly recommend if you're in the area. If they have their mushroom soup get... a huge bowl, it's delicious Read more

My husband and I came here for a quick lunch and were very pleased. The weather was pleasant so we decided to eat on the porch.... Our sandwiches were well prepared and very tasty. The only thing I didn't care for was the water was not filtered and had that"city water" taste to it. It may not be a big deal to you but I'm a water snob so it matters to me. There was a nice littleporch cat that was very polite and never begged for food. I would certainly recommend for a nice lunch. Supposedly in theevenings they have music but we did experience this side of the venue. Read more
