Every time I visit Winston-Salem is a good excuse to eat at Hero House, a Greek restaurant with a variety of options. Everything... is freshly made and quickly too. Highly recommend the chicken souvlaki with pita and French fries that are perfectly cooked. TheBaklava is top shelf delish. And for those of you who love sweet tea, do not miss a chance to order the largest size. It isperfection. Read more

Clean establishment with a friendly and helpful staff. As a matter of personal taste I'd prefer the subs closer to a room temp... or toasted. I wasn't a fan of the burger nor the cheese used on the cheese steak although they were both good. This review isbased off of more than one visit. I will eat there again. Read more

Great little sandwich shop by the mall and hospitals in Winston-Salem. I almost always get the Italian cold cut that is topped... with a red pepper vinaigrette. Their bread is spot on fresh and soft inside but holds thr content very well. I always get thepotato salad which is more mayonnaise based with a little mustard. I wish they had a soda fountain were the public could refillat their own leisure but just mu personal choice. Recommend for lunch if you are in the area. Enjoy. Read more

First time experience. We were attracted by the items on the sign outside of the restaurant. Did take out for lunch. The fried... flounder on a Kaiser bun with pickles and slaw was very tasty. I'm not a pickle person so I removed all 5 slices, but theresidual pickle flavor was just right. My wife enjoyed the chicken rice soup, although she adds her own vegetables from wherevershe gets her chicken rice soup. The slice of Italian Cream was huge and heavenly. The order taker/cashier was knowledgeable andvery friendly. We will definitely go back to try more of the Hero House menu items. Read more

The last time we were hear we got sub sandwiches and they were excellent. This time, we stopped for desert. Got fudge sundae.... Oh my, they were excellent. Large brownie. Opted with walnuts. Large scoop of ice cream on top. Chocolate drizzle. Whipped cream and candy sprinkles. At $2.99, it was over the top. Better than expected. We'll be back! I'd recommend. Read more

Love this place but would have 5 stars if we didn't get jipped on the meat portion. The bread is fantastic and the lettuce is... nice and fresh. But for $20 a sub it needs more than a sliver of meat. Read more

The Hero House Experience (Online Ordering/Pick-Up Edition). Taking it way back, I was eating at the Hero House when its... location was beside the Coliseum and remember when they had two sites, but now there is only one remaining. So on this day, Iwanted to support the Hero House. I was conflicted about placing my order online or calling in. I called in but was on hold forso long that I hung up and placed my order online. I ordered their Greek Salad with feta cheese, Kalamata olives, pepperoncini, green peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. I also ordered their homemade onion rings. Ordering online was fast andstraightforward, and I was given a pickup time with directions. Once arriving at the restaurant, my food was ready, and I wasout the door in no time. However, I noticed that the salad size was not as plentiful as it used to be once home, and they didnot put any crackers in the bag. Also, the onion rings were not the best, and the batter seemed off. I was not pleased with mymeal and would like to know if the Hero House owners spot-check or pop in from time to time. Restaurants such as the GrecianCorner, Jimmy the Greek, The Olive Tree, Greek Guy's Grill, and Shomars, to name a few, serve the same type of food as the HeroHouse. Therefore, Hero House should not slack with its customer service, food presentation, or quality. Nevertheless, it hasbeen a while since I had been to the Hero House, and I am unsure if I will return. Best, most authentic gyro I have had in years, really since my days in Greece. Absolutely wonderful, and the homemade onion... rings with ranch are the bomb! Read more
