The restaurant was pretty busy but was able to squeeze us in last minute, which was appreciated. The seating was very tight and... we were close to the surrounding tables, to the point where we could clearly hear their conversations and barely understand eachother across the table. The service was good, although the waitress disappeared often and was difficult to flag down. Theoverall atmosphere was cozy but plain. The bigger disappointment was the food. Their "seafood chowder" was literally just fishsoup - blended salmon and soup, with some potato and clam chunks in it. The short ribs were delicious, but the grilled filetmignon was mediocre. It was ordered medium rare, but charred way too much, giving it a very distinct, bad aftertaste. We ordereddessert to try and make up for the meal - the "homemade" chocolate cobbler thing (pictured below). It was more like chocolatesyrup with an oatmeal crumble, scoop of ice cream, and berries on top, and it would've been fine if the chocolate wasn't just arunny syrup. While we understand it seems like a local staple, we don't understand the hype and likely wouldn't return again. Read more

We had an amazing experience. The subtlety of flavors and creativity of choice ingredients come together in a way that can only... be done by the best of chefs. This is the best food we have had in Winston Salem including our own restaurant of which we arevery proud. Excellently served by a pleasant and knowledgeable server. The owner checking on her guests while bussing tables isthe kind of commitment that drives a great place like this. Don?t skip dessert, not here. Old fashioned classics like chocolatemousse or the creative elegance of a fresh berry and goat cheese tart are not to be missed and obviously made in house with thesame passion as the rest of the menu. We went back recently, Nov 2022, and had another sublime experience. The seared tuna overcold noodles really left a great impression on each of us. Thank you for bringing this level of creativity and quality to WS. Read more

Great food & great service. I've had brunch, lunch and dinner here, it's always great! The menu changes daily but seems to... rotate back around every few weeks with a slightly different sauce or side. If you see the scallops topped with the pulled pork, get them, it may be the best thing I've ever eaten! Read more

If there were seven stars to recommend, I would give this restaurant "10" stars! So impressive and the food was amazing.

We held a bridesmaid's luncheon at 1703 in April 2022. Working with them was delightful. They provided a menu just for our... event! The food and service was excellent. It was a beautiful way to start off my daughter's wedding weekend! Read more
