Reviews for Smitty's Family Restaurant in Winnipeg, MB

After reading previous reviews and hearing the accolades of quick service I’m wondering if I was at the same restaurant, twice... now I’ve taken big groups to the same Smittys and both times I’ve been less then satisfied. I don’t believe smittys iscapable of efficiently serving a group of more then 8, we were a group of 22 earlier and recently 14, both times the wait timeswere really really long, over a hour between ordering and serving, by the time the last person got their order the first oneswere long finished and ready to leave. First group we figured eh we’re a big group so what if thy miss something here orthere, the restaurant was quite busy so we just rolled with it. Second group was (not) good at all, were 14 of us and maybe 10to 15 other customers, again well over a hour or so before we all got our orders and one was completely missed, we had oneserver between us who did everything from drinks to meals…..which was fine until we realized she was also serving other tables(and) running the bar at the same time, they were really understaffed. Food was pretty good but portion size seemed a bit smalland fries where really sparse, some plates weren’t hot, like they’d been sitting and waiting someplace, Our server wasfriendly and cheerful but definitely too busy doing other things. My husband have gone to Smittys 3 weekends in row and everytime the service and food have been amazing! The staff are so... friendly and efficient. The food tastes great and comes hot! Both of these traits are hard to find nowadays, great service andgreat food! Read more

This place was hopping and with limited staff on hand. The waitresses were awesome and efficient even if she grabbed the wrong... order at first. She was quick to apologize and rectify it. The food was very tasty even if my partner was already halfwaythrough his meal when I got mine. My only reason for the 4-star review is that we weren't offered any type of discount, refundor coupon for the error with my order, and for me that is huge no no in the service industry. Read more
