Reviews for R call?hotpot and restaurant) in Winnipeg, MB
I just had dinner here today. The serving speed of hot pot is very slow, and I ordered two meals in total. The first time I... didn't get all the food, the second time the waiter got the wrong food. There is only one waiter in the restaurant, and thewaiter's hardly appears in the dining area, so before the end of dinner, the water in our hot pot is almost dry, and the waiterdoesn't see it. At the end of the check-out, there is no waiter in the restaurant, and the customer needs to knock on the doorof the back kitchen to ask for the check-out. The price is also more expensive than most All you can eat hot pot restaurant. Read more
My girlfriend and I came here for hotpot, it was our first time. The hotpot was ok , but their service wasn?t worth with the... price I paid. The prices on their menu weren?t clear, so a waiter explained to us that one person is $31 for all-you-can-eat,including soup base and basic ingredients. However, we got charged extra for the soup base and the basic ingredients used withthe soup that wasn?t mentioned before, so we paid $39 for each person. (Normally, you don?t get charged extra for the basicingredients when you pay all-you-can-eat at other hotpot restaurants such as Igi or asian hotpot) We were also confused on thereceipt because there was no english. The same waiter explained to us again, but it was different from the first time. $10 wasfor the ingredients, $6 was for the soup base, then we asked what was the $62. He couldn?t answer that. Each orders took themfrom 20min to 30min to prepare, and they brought very little ingredients to us. The restaurant wasn?t busy, it were our table, and another table had four persons. A lot of ingredients from the list were out of stock. Again, $39 for each person is a waytoo much for this kind of service , you could get better hotpot with just $30-$31 at Igi or Asian hotpot Read more
The food we ordered at this restaurant was very tasty. Rice is free! Yes we had Rice with our hotpot and we could get as many... bowls as we wanted for free! Half of the hot pot ingredients we ordered were frozen. Fresh?? The soup base was delicious+We wereserved promptly! I gave this restaurant a 3-star for the following reasons: The menu we were served with was "hand written".This aspect was a bit messy. It has also being changed from a buffet service to pay for what you order. So when you request hotpot, you pay for each extra ingredient you request. This has its pros and cons. No more dim sums. I really looked forward tothis but unfortunately, they no longer have this feature. The bathroom garbage bin was full and seemed to be overflowing. Itwould have been nicer if it were half full or empty since its an open concept bin. The kitchen did not look very clean either(The door to the kitchen was open-it's also close to the bathroom). Leaving the building, there are small drops in floor stepswith no caution at all. This could pose a severe danger to visitors who are not being cautious about their steps. In my opinion, this restaurant's building could use a complete renovation as it gives the impression that it's falling apart. All that beingsaid, the servers and staff here were very friendly and helpful. May visit again. Update: This restaurant has truly stepped itup! As at a month ago when I visited, they had improved their menus and not just their menus but their soup bases! Absolutelydelicious! I just couldn't get over the flavour! The food is here is worth visiting for. As for other aspects of the restaurantlike the building, the dining setting etc-they may not meet your standard but I assure you the food will make up for mostaspects where they lack. Read more
GREAT STAFF AND MANAGEMENT-TASTY FOOD-NICE PLACE
Food is very good. Be prepared to wait though. If you come with the understanding that you're going to be waiting a while, it... might not bother you so much. Read more
Great service. Fantastic food (my husband ordered something akin to lava - didn't eat that) lots of variety and flavours.
Tried to come here before but they weren't open. Didn't have a great impression walking in. Decor is very old style Chinese. You... can't have your legs comfortably under the table so had to sit slanted a bit or away from the table. It smelled odd when wewalked in, like Chinese medicine. Service was friendly but difficult to understand. So we weren't expecting that much. The allyou can eat hot pot was $26.95 plus 9.95 to add a soup base. If you have more than one person the add is 6.95 making it one ofthe more expensive places to go for this kind of food. It's communal eating, with an induction stove that's set inside thetable. That's nice because it's lowered so you can get your food easier. The meal comes with dim sum which is a bit more unique. No other restaurant has done that as I know in Winnipeg? (Hot pot +dim sum all you can eat). Considering we are doing a hot potcomparison by visiting all the spots we can we haven't found another. It didn't seem to matter how many orders you ordered. Youmight as well do a check mark. They seem to bring you out however many they feel. We put 1,2, or 3 on different items but got 3of each on most occasions. That being said we were pleasantly surprised by the taste. All the dim sum side from one was verygood. I'd skip the siu mai. It's not terrible but the other items were just better. The deep fried pumpkin dough was different. It was made of pumpkin and glutinous rice I think and then deep fried possibly with panko. I would come back just for the dimsum. The hot pot base soup was one of the best ones I've had. When we ordered the items for the hot pot, we found the beef to berather flavorless and looked freezer burned. The first order of lamb was great, the second not so much. They had some mushroombeef balls that were very good however. Tldr: food was better than expected but other things keep it from being a 5 star. Read more
