We love Baan Thai! One of the best Thai restaurants in Winnipeg. We actually live the opposite side of the city but it's worth... the drive! We love their green curry, crab rangoon and stuffed chicken wings! The restaurant is very clean and they have 2 hugebathrooms which is very handy when you have a little one. They also offer catering and we've ordered party trays from them for asmall gathering (10-12 people) a couple of times and they have always been on time and food is always fresh at pick up! Read more
Great food! Nice, clean restaurant :). A new favourite - we?ll definitely come again. We ordered the mango salad, the... massaman curry and green curry. Read more
Great place! Their food was absolutely delicious with large family-style sized servings (could feed a couple or one hungry... person probably). The service was very friendly and helpful even with a large group size. They did bring dishes out as they weredone, not all at once, but we didn't mind. On a side note they had black washroom fixtures that I thought were kinda neat. Read more
I liked the reviews so was excited to try this new place. My go to is usually Pad Thai, green curry chicken or Massaman curry. ... This was a generous serving (to go). I ordered "light oil". It was definitely not light with oil & it wasn't tasting like itwas peanut oil, but more non-flavored. I was not asked if I had a preference for level of heat, spice-wise. Most Pad Thai I'vemade & had in restaurants over the years has a sauce containing tamarind, made a little more tangy with lime or even a bit ofvinegar, plus chopped peanut, fish sauce, sugar, garlic, paprika, etc. I'm just not tasting tamarind or lime or much else, butmore of a generic very mild brown sauce. No spicy heat at all. Based on the oily factor & taste, I vote no on the Pad Thai.(However, it beat the horrible Pad Thai at Pad Thai restaurant down the street.). I know some people will love thismild-mannered dish, so by all means try it. I am a foodie & love restaurants, so have tried a large number since moving from theStates to here. Everyone puts their own twist on their cooking. I like lower oil and a fresh brighter flavor with thisdish. I'm going back to try a curry next time because this Pad Thai just might be a dish of theirs I am not drawn to but theymight do a different one I might love. if I can find a "go to" dish or two I'll have some Thai to enjoy in the neighborhoodinstead of driving farther. So far the other Thai places I've tried other than on Portage have all been really good orexcellent, including places on Roblin, Pembina, on Donald, Osborne, St Boniface, and other areas. I'll change my rating if otherdishes are good or bad. I like to see restaurants succeed. Customer service was good. They called me to let me know my food wasready. I've been physically in the place twice & it looks very clean. Read more
