Reviews for The Spitfire Arms Alehouse in Windsor, NS
First stop for some great ale and poutine. Scallops excellent. Chef was willing to serve without creme sauce. Great... server/manager. Read more
Extensive and flavourful menu. Fairly reasonable prices and good size portions. First time steak and guinness pie, next time had... shrimp and linguini pasta. Well crafted and tasty. Read more
Our waitress was great, but the food, not so much. We ordered the seafood chowder. The potatoes were under cooked and there was... an overwhelming lemony taste with the chowder. We couldn?t eat it. Also, scallops were cool and we had to ask them to reheatthem. Definitely wasn?t what we had hoped for. Read more
Our original plan was to visit the Micro Brewery next door to this pub first but it is closed on Monday's. So we headed into... the Spitfire Arms and had a few drinks before ordering food. They have a beer made exclusively for them by another brewery inthe area (see picture) and I found it to be exceptional. If you ask they have cans at the bar you can buy for take away. GladI did this as we did visit the Brewery the next day and they don't even have this available at their location. We ordered theFries as a starter (see picture), they season each one with a different spice and paired with a sauce. It's a great item toorder if you just want something small or are looking for something to snack on before ordering the main course. Supper wasvery good. I ordered the Curry which came with your choice of 3 different curries with rice and naan bread. The beer selectionincludes a variety of local breweries including some from the location next door. The waitress was very attentive and alwaysfollowed up with us on a regular basis even though we were there for around 3 hours. On a Monday it's one of the few sit downrestaurant options that is open, our plan was to go here in any case but you won't be disappointed if you choose to come here. Read more
Best wings I've had in a very long time! The other dishes I had, as well as the people that were with me were delicious, well... prepared and generous in their servings and ingredients. I'm not usually a pub patron, but I definitely have no complaints aboutthe quality of this tasty food. The service was quick, friendly and professional, which to me is just as important as thequality of the food. Prices were definitely reasonable, especially in light of prices everywhere else these days. Absolutely twothumbs up! Read more
My wife and I were visiting the nearby Schoolhouse Brewery and the Spitfire caught our eye. We are very glad we stopped in -... great customer service, excellent atmosphere, authentic decor and last but not least, delicious food. I dug into the fish andchip so fast I forgot to take a photo, but it was light, crispy and well cooked, exactly why you want. My wife had the currymedley and it was delicious - will definitely return! Read more
My partner, best friend and I went here for a bit to eat not expecting the amazing service or the great food we got. I got (in... the picture) the garlic shrimp, butternut squash linguine and it was both soon good. My partner got their pulled pork burger and garlic bread and he enjoyed it so much. My friend got there fish taco and also enjoyed it as well 10/10. 5 star place willbe going again. Read more
I love the alley outback. The last 2 times I went that's were we asked to sit. The offer blankets and it's heated for cold days... too! Staff are terrific!!! Sadly the rating is pricing and taste related. I have been a number of times this year (out of townfriends/family always want to try it due to the ratings and look). Sadly the last few times not only was it expensive (sides nolonger included I.e. 5 dollar add-on for fries) but the food is underwhelming. Spitfire was known for consistency and greatfood. Now three times I have gone in the last 5 months food was cold, overcooked (steak and fries) and greasy (sun-dried tomatolinguine) or just uneatable (pub curry). I hope this is just a bad rebuilding time for them and they make it back to the way itwas. Still great for a wide selection of ales and music. Read more
