We went for the famous lobster rolls and despite this being nowhere near the sea, we were not disappointed. Fair warning, these... rolls are absolute butter bombs, but so, so tasty. It's probably a thousand calories so we'll have to be back for the icecream. They also carry lots of roadside stand classics like burgers and dogs. Great for kids. Namely a takeout place with someoutdoor seating. Wait times can be up to 40 minutes but we waited no longer than 15 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. They text youto let you know when it's done, which is perfect if you want to slip up to Nod Hill brewery for some beer to go. Read more
A great, side-of-the-road burger joint with hot dogs, chicken straps, fries, etc but arguable the best ice cream and shakes... around. A local institution. Read more
Sometimes you want to slow down a little. Park and get out of your car... people watch a little... contemplate how an apple pie... milkshake could exist and what size you "need"... eat slower, as in outside and NOT in your car... well this is a good place todo that! Read more
If you are expecting a roadside stand that gets by on charm and reputation with mediocre food, you will be very pleasantly... surprised. Fast, energetic surface. The black bean burger was crispy and delicious, seemingly homemade, a very far cry fromthe sad, store-bought, mushy ones usually found at places like this. The lobster roll was reasonably priced, and served in agrilled roll. Also delicious. Fries are great, very generous portions. Read more
Fantastic! Highly recommended! Drove past many times, glad I stopped in. Had two hotdogs (one with sauerkraut & mustard, one... with chili & cheese) that were awesome! There are 5 star meals? and then there are ?last meal? meals. This is a ?last meal?-worthy meal. Started with a lobster roll -... and although expensive - they use high quality lobster meat. The clam strips with old bay seasoned fries were delicious, aswell. But the standout is truly their ice cream. Best ice cream I?ve ever had. This is one of the many iconic pull off the road eateries dotting the state of CT. The Heibeck's have been running this stand... since the thirties and it shows in the consistency and longevity this roadside stand displays year in and year out. You willfind ur standard grease spot fare w/burgers n dogs as well as a plethora of fried dishes. They also have an interestingselection of tacos which I will be reviewing on my next visit along w/the ice cream which I hope is as good as I remember itbeing. As for what I did have the chicken tenders are phenomenal! Great crispness to them and the breading has real flavor. Asfor the fries...slightly overrated due to being way too SALTY! But other than that a nice meal out in the back patio is a winwin win during the summer days! Def worth it! Read more
Best roadside foodstand I've been to. Haven't even tried their burgers yet, but their tacos and falafel sandwich are quite good,... and their ice cream is good. Much larger menu than most places like this also. Read more
