The food and wine downstairs in the basement was fantastic! Huge let down for the bedding. VERY hard mattress and pillows. I... even asked for more thinking it would help but it didn?t.. Good fortune smiled on us when we decided to stop for the night along Interstate 70 and we discovered this hidden gem. This... historic hotel is beautiful, clean, and an absolute pleasure to experience. The clerk was very helpful and told us alot of thehotel's history. We just stayed 1 night, and reluctantly hit the road again in the morning, but plan to return to linger a fewdays and enjoy the hotel and area. Most Highly and enthusiastically recommended! Truly a hidden and historical gem set against an eclectic fabric of time and culture! The only reason I gave the location 4... stars was because I wasn't here long enough to take part in the festival coming up in a week and half. The Midland RailroadHotel is nestled inside the small town of Wilson, Kansas and is a throwback to 19th and early 20th century small town peacefultranquility. I would have liked for more lights to have been turned on to showcase the stunning patio and garden areas, butagain, I'm sure it will be when the festival hits next week. The staff was courteous and a special shout out to the sweet younglady who regaled me with the stories of the 2 ghosts who allegedly haunt the hotel. Great little place! Room was small. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good but a bit limited. Would have been better if... there was a curtain covering the transom. It let in a lot of light during the night. Read more
