I had so many things to talk to my friend about tonight. I had to make a list so I knew we needed to go out to dinner to get... through the list. When she said she was available in the evening I thought okay. We can finally go to "three10"! I was surprisedif she had already picked out what she was probably going to have for dinner, but the recipe that included pickled watermelonrind had her going. I hadn't looked at the menu. I was a little surprised there were so few things on the menu and that therewere no specials, but the waitress explained that they want to do what they do really well. And they do. I decided to try themushroom gumbo and added shrimp. We weren't in a drinking mood so we just had water, the water was beautifully presented andgorgeous glassware. It was a very comfortable dining room, I was surprised at how open it was. The bar looks like it would be afun place to sit and watch the happenings. We chose to eat inside because it was still hot and humid in August, but there wereplenty of people who sat outside and inside was robustly full. It took a little while for a meal to come, but we had plenty totalk about so it flew by. The pork chops. Chops take a few extra minutes. The waitress told us. I was surprised that we didn'tget any bread, but I missed it on the menu that they had several things you could purchase. But we were fine. The meals as youcan tell from the picture were beautiful. The flavor was outstanding. My mushroom gumbo with shrimp was flavored so perfectly Ididn't need any salt or pepper, And while there was a bit of heat to the dish, it was not overwhelming that you had to put out afire with water or bread. It was very well done. The portion size was doable. I was hungry, it was delicious and consequentlythere were no leftovers to take home. A restaurant in the Brooklyn Arts district that is a beautiful old home. Cozy coastal decor that is bright and welcoming. A lot... of dining on the outdoor wrap around porch. Cocktails are unique and definitely worth a try. We started with a half dozen localoysters that were briny and super fresh. The Crispy skin flounder with roasted mushroom puree had a wonderful woodsy flavor. Thepickled shallots added a bright vinegar flavor. It was absolutely delicious. Yellowfin tuna with a peanut romesco was nutty,acidic and paired with roasted carrots that brought out the sweetness. Small menu but something for everyone. DH and I had dinner with friends. We made reservations that afternoon but were able to get seats at the bar. The place filled up... quickly! Set in a renovated home, we found the it to be very noisy inside. It's located in the Brooklyn Arts District inWilmington. They have a lovely wrap-around porch for outside dining. The menu is limited to a raw bar, small plates, and largeplates; and they have a brunch menu. What a wonderful place to have dinner. We started with cocktails. I had a tasty Palmona,which included tequila, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit, fresh lime and orange juice, and agave. For my entrée, I ordered thecrispy skin red snapper. I've never had red snapper before and I was very pleased with the entrée. It included cornbreadgnocchi (oh so tender), marinated tomatoes, shishito peppers, in a country ham glaze. $28 and worth every penny. DH had thegrilled yellowfin tuna, $30, also excellent. We all shared the Carolina gold hushpuppies (made with cornbread) $8. The were solight and fluffy on the inside. They were served with a pepper jelly. My friends loved their entrees.
