Been coming here for years, some of the best food EVER!
I just left there with my friend my daughter and my granddaughter and upon arrival it appeared to be clean and quaint. The... handsome gentlemen came from the back with cell phone in hand didn't wash his hands and no gloves. Got a small piece of pork,rice and gandolas oxtails and cold dry vegetables.... My pieces of oxtail look like it had been bitten off the other one hadonly two little pieces of meat and all my food was totally salty and I have a headache right now. My rice was crunchy cuz it wasdried out on the top. I'll never eat from there again it was not worth the $25 that I spent. The 17 my daughter spent. How muchthe 20 my friend spent. This is my 3rd time getting food from this spot. The first time I order Pollo guisao, and it was too salty, the chicken look... like it wasn't clean. The second time I ordered mofongo and it was so salty and again Food was not fresh. This 3rd time Iordered the sancocho with a side order of tostones, I was highly disappointed. The white rice was cold, the food looked like ithas been sitting there for days. They only gave me 1 tiny piece of chicken with 3 pieces of veggies. Tasteless! This is notSancocho made with love. The food on IG looks so good but when you go to the store it's a disappointment. The staff it's rude!They do not even greet you when you come in. Don't even smile and she didn't even tell me what my balance was just took mycard. I ordered 2 paatelillos and they were never in the bag. It's sad because the place has potential, but I don't think theyare taking their services seriously. The restaurant don't even look welcoming, being hispanic and from philly I do not thinkthey take pride in their stablishment. Their tostones was the best thing. This is what I did to food I got from there just now. They put a bottle of salt on everything. The guy at the counter seems to... be at the smoke shop more than anything spaced out. Place is TERRI BLE. KEEP DRIVING. I POSTED THIS A MONTH AGO AND JUST NOW UREPLYING. ALSO COUNTER GUY DID NOT HAVE A DISABILITY. DONT TRY TO COVER UP BAD SERVICE. I was not happy with my experience here. I took my daughter her for dinner to support a local business instead of a restaurant... chain. The food was alright but I was over charged. I ordered one of the chef specials of the day and was told it came with riceand plantains or vegetables. I never got my rice and was charged separately for the vegetables. Everything is made fresh so Ididn?t mind the wait but for the money I spent, I was not satisfied. We order plantains and empanadas to go and never receivedthose either. They seemed to be scattered and unorganized. Maybe a better (read: automated) ordering system is needed to ensureall orders are fulfilled in their entirety. I ordered mofongo with vegetables and plantains. The plantains were probably the best I've ever had. Rather than chopped in... chunks, they are sliced into ribbons which provides greater tenderness and much more surface area for flavor. Just perfect. Theroasted veggies that came along with my mofongo were blackened and seasoned perfectly. Really good. The mofongo, though, wasdry. Really dry. Perhaps some sauce would have helped but none was included or offered. I would definitely go back but will trysomething else (and will definitely get those plantains again). I would also suggest calling ahead if you plan to take out.Everything is made to order which is great but, of course, takes some time. Read more
