Reviews for Colonial Pancake House in Williamsburg, VA

This seems to be a staple in the Williamsburg area. One large open dining room with your classic country/colonial style... decor. One thing I found off-putting, was being seated at the table right next to the women's bathroom. If the dining area isfull they shouldn't seat anyone there. Each time someone entered or exited you could hear whatever was going on in there. Ilasted about 5 mins then asked if I could sit elsewhere. The server was very apologetic and was happy to move me. The menuoffers all the classic breakfast options. I opted for the pancake which was the size of the plate and very light and fluffy, very tasty. Coffee is strong, and if you're a big coffee drinker it's nice cause they leave the carafe. Eggs were good andcooked perfectly as over medium. The potatoes could have been cooked longer though. This restaurant is superior. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress was superb. She knew the menu and was able to... guide us in our ordering questions. The service was very fast and the food was outstanding. The pancake batter recipe is one ofthe best I have ever tasted. My wife gave rave reviews of the French toast. My daughters were so excited to find that theirfruit and chocolate chip pancakes had fruit and chips inside the pancake not just on top. This was our second visit to theColonial Pancake House. During our trips to Williamsburg over the years, we have eaten at two other pancake establishments bothof which were good; however, The Colonial steps it up a notch. It is our favorite. Read more

Great staff, great food, reasonable price. I had the scrapple, eggs (over easy), and grits. My husband had the ?taco-sized?... breakfast burrito. We shared the banana nut pancakes! So fluffy and yummy! Grits have a little more pepper than I expected butstill good! We arrived at 8am on Sunday, were seated immediately and had food by 8:20am. Would recommend, will return! We were in the area for Christmas and we stopped here to fuel up for the drive home. We were promptly greeted and seated in a... large room with a welcoming fire in the fireplace. Restaurant had a small Christmas tree area set up by the cashier. Not overlydecorated for Christmas. Soon after our breakfast was served. Lots of blueberries in and on top of pancakes. Hash and scrambledeggs were tasty. Home fries were different. Ordered them crispier and they were like home made potato chips. Not what I wasexpecting! Coke products. Area that eeds some help was the ladies restroom, reflected in the above star rating. Read more
