We visited last night but it was really disappointing. While the place has a nice view, it lost the ambiance it once had partly... because they shrunk the size of it. And while some food items are priced ok, they charged us $22 for a ridiculously smallappetizer of (I think it was called) fire shrimp. It was such a rip off. We love, love staying at the Hotel Icona, but this restaurant misses the mark. We ate there on our first day and the food was... mediocre, expensive and the service was subpar. We sat for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. Once our food arrived ourserver never came back until we asked for the check. I ordered the fresh shrimp and crab appetizer, the shrimp was okay, but thecrab was mushy. They delivered our food without napkins and silverware, which took another 5 minutes to acquire. Another serverwas cleaning up tables and had several napkin/silverware in her arms and walked by us! We left most our food uneaten and ourserver never asked if we were happy. It's unfortunate because the vibe and location is fantastic and we would have eaten thereseveral more times during our stay. They need to have simple really good menu items and do them well. I brought my first wife here. The Star Beach Bar was a fun time for us. My initial impression was WOW because of the palm trees.... The staff was fun and the drinks were great. You have to watch for the seagulls cause they will rob you of your burger. The hutswith couches are perfect for getting that caribbean island beach vibe. Thank you for a great time. Was here in the evening for a birthday party at the rental space near the bar. The fun continued at The Star after. For a... Saturday night it was not crowded at all and it was a gorgeous, low humidity evening to enjoy such a venue. Plenty of seating,along with wonderful cabanas and fire pits to relax around. Family style games are laid out. The prices were okay, about whatyou would expect to pay. It really is a gorgeous setting and if you?re staying around the vicinity there isn?t a whole lot elseto choose from so it?s worth a visit! Gorgeous setting, lighting, fun. Food was excellent, the band seemed like they were drunk the music there were singing didn't make sense. Either way, nice... ambiance, the pizza my son ordered was burned, but they took it off the bill and made him a fresh one right away, the foodrunner had accidently brought the wrong one. so i'm not going to take away stars for that, this place has potential to be anawesome little spot to hang out.
