It's not like it used to back in the day of Gene's, It was real hot inside and especially when you got up to payout at the... register, you could feel the heat from the fry lines, overall it used to be bumping real hot back then and the food you couldtell had that special Gene's butter pat down top on the bun that much, no more an iconic stop now no longer. Overpriced for what you get, the dining room is uncomfortably hot, and everything needs to be cleaned. My food tasted fine, but... I was charged $8.23 for a "large" single patty hamburger that was actually very small. Read more
Fantastic Burger, Amazing Onion Rings and the Tots with Chili and Cheese were fantastic . Really good milkshakes as well. The... burger was a standout, juicy and perfectly cooked and wow the flavor was incredible. Best burger I have had in a long time! Thechili is amazing on tots, chili cheese dogs etc... This place was worth the 2 hour drive to Whichita Falls from the DFWmetroplex. You don't find classic burger joints like this anymore. Certainly worth the stop!!! Read more
Gene's Tasty Burger is the definition of a "Hole in the Wall Treasure". I consider myself a burger connoisseur and this place... just might take the gold medal. In my humble opinion, it is without the a doubt the BEST burger I've had in Wichita Falls anddefinitely in the Top 5 Best Burgers in Texas. We ended up visiting with the owner before we left and he informed us thislocation has been here since the 1960's but it was originally established uo the street a ways back in the 1950's. There isn'tanything fancy or out of the ordinary when dining here, and maybe that's what works so well. Maybe it reminds me of a simplertime when going in here. Just sitting in a booth, visiting with the person across form you, and enjoying an out of this world,juicy cheeseburger and hand battered onion rings. There is a large selection of "main foods" as well as sides and desserts. Mystomach was already out of room by the time I got to desserts, but the dessert of the day was peach cobbler and I was sad I hadno room left. There is also a handful of flavors if you are craving a good, old fashioned milkshake. The owner said the customerbase was mainly folks in their 60's, however, I can't stress enough how many people should try this place despite their age. Thelocation to some people may seem "sketchy" to some, but don't let that be a factor and keep you from eating here. We feltperfectly comfortable while dining here and enjoyed every minute of it. So... Bottom line... If you want a burger that will makeyou full from a meal and an enjoyable, affordable lunch/dinner, then I HIGHLY recommend Gene's Tasty Burger. You will not bedisappointed!! Very good burger. I just wish I had got a large instead of a small Frisco burger because that was a tease
