We we?re passing through town and wanted to stop in for a real Wisconsin Friday fish fry at a real Wisconsin Supper Club. The... Palms did not disappoint. The deep fried cod was the best I?ve had. It was hot and perfectly breaded but not greasy. The sideswere roasted red potatoes, cole slaw and delicious warm bread! The cocktails were substantial and reasonably priced. Excellent Friday night fish fry. My husband and I both ordered the seafood trio. It came with choice of fish, choice of shrimp,... and a half pound of crab legs. The only thing that could improve was the shrimp. It was slightly overcooked by the flavor wasgreat. They have a small select fish menu on Fridays. Decided to check out a new place based on others reviews, it was absolutely disappointing and we will never be back. If you... enjoy microwaved food this place is for you. Crab was ice cold, and then became overcooked when asked if they cod warm it up. Itwasn't busy yet the staff seemed like it was almost an inconvenience to be there. It was so cold I had to wear my winter coat,and was still cold. Was told their was an issue with their heating. Comments were made, we could switch tables. Yet when alarger group was seated they were offered a heater. I highly recommend you go else where this place was terrible. Read more
This place is WONDERFUL! We love trying new places and we were in Wausau for the WEMSA conference because my husband was voted... Dispatcher of the year. We chose this place as our date night for the weekend. The bartender was amazing and was attentive. Weonly had to wait about 25 minutes for a table, which isn't bad for a fish fry Friday. Our Server was Awesome and made sure wewere good a few times and didn't not overly check on us. The homemade bread before our food came out was heavenly and madeeverything feel cozy. It took not long at all for our food to arrive and the candle warmed butter dishes made us smile.Everything on our plate was so delicious and we kept eating till we couldn't eat anymore. Generous portions and the best seafoodwe have had in a long time. This is definitely the place to eat and enjoy your company that you are with. Spent the night in Wasau and were hankering for a good supper club, and Palms didn't disappoint. It was evident by the number... of cars in the parking lot, that this was the place to be, and it was. The hostess informed us that they were out of prime rib,and she was extremely apologetic. I had the beer battered jumbo shrimp and my husband had the tenderloin. Both meals wereexcellent! My shrimp was lightly battered and not heavy, just the way I like them. My husband's steak was a little on the rareside, and our server had the cook put it back on for a minute or two. It was delicious! No steak sauce or au jus needed! Ourserver was so busy, but she made sure that our drink glasses were never empty and that we were satisfied with our meal. Had the prime rib and twice baked potatoe. Wow just amazing!! But what takes this place over the top is not the ice cold mix... drinks that are made great also!
