I always look forward to dining at The Bistro . I went last evening and I was so disappointed. Our orders took over 45 minutes... to be served. The waitress never once came over to let us know when our meal would arrive. Also no one came back to refill outwater. I spoke to the manager and he apologized yet I didn?t feel he really cared. I am not sure I want to return. I save upto treat myself and the service was terrible . Read more

Amazing view with below average food. At least make it taste good for the prices you are charging. Awful kids menu as well.

The closest place to a Michelin star restaurant in RI at the beautiful Ocean House. Oysters, Steak Tartar, Beet Salad, Lobster... Rigatoni was great. The service at the bar was perfect. Read more

The co reviewer and I have always wanted to check out the entire property and dine here as well. The building and grounds are... beautiful and extremely well maintained. The views are spectacular, IF you are into that whole panoramic ocean view fad! Theservice was very good and the restaurant was as clean and comfortable as you would expect from such a first class resort. TheMakers Mark manhattan?s were good and the cola?s were bottled and not fountain! The chowder was tasty. The dinners selectionswe had that day was the steak and chicken Milanese. Both meals were tasty and served hot. The dessert was an odd deconstructedchocolate sundae? It paired well with a cup of tea. Overall it was a nice change. Read more

We almost never made it here. We were able to make a 2:30 reservation and even were told we would be accommodated when I called... to notify we were running a little late. We literally took 5 minute showers after a long 5+ mile hike and drove there as quicklyas possible to make it by 2:45. Once we arrived we were told we were out of luck and we're misinformed and kind of went onwithout offering a solution or options or apology. I was gracious and asked the hostess to explain now what? So Christos wasable to get us a table for 5:30 and after much debate in the car as to whether we should still dine here, we decided we. So nota great start but we made the most of it. Lesson learned, don't book a table for 2:30! Onwards. Lovely setting that is classicand traditional yet not stale or stuffy. Gorgeous ocean view backdrop in select seating. NY strip was the disappointment; waytoo gristly and tough to chew. Had steak two nights previously in 2 different Mystic restaurants with notable chefs and this wasdisappointing after we became accustomed to this standard. Had to listen to my husband complain all night about us not sendingback a $40 tough piece of meat! Loved that gluten free rolls were offered to me! I'm celiac and this was a first. Salmon tartarewas excellent. Drinks were good. The view and ambiance are worth going for at least drinks and small plates. Our servers Ian andJJ and Christo the host were wonderful and fun. We went for lunch today. I'd have gone for the 5 stars, except that one of the appetizers was very blah. The weather was... beautiful and we had the following: - Complimentary foccacia and butter and a lovely little watermelon relish to start. - Abowl of clam chowder which was delicious. - Clam spring rolls, which were sort of mushy inside and to me, a load of unnecessarycalories and fat, since they were fried. We should have passed on those. I couldn't help thinking 'I hope these clams are cookedthrough'. - A Thai Chicken Salad, which was amply portioned and delicious. - A Cold Lobster Salad Roll that was good-sized, butwould have benefitted from some celery mixed in and some lettuce in the sandwich. It came with fries that were no more excitingthan you'd find in a fast-food restaurant. - Iced coffee and iced tea (which was unfortunately, to my surprise, peachflavored--something I don't particularly like). The wait staff was wonderful and attentive, except for not getting a spoon withthe chowder. The bill came to around 94.00 with tax, since we ordered no alcohol. We asked for a seat by the window but weregiven one on the inside wall, which was fine, since the ocean view was positively spectacular anyway. We'd recommend thisplace, but if you are planning on drinking alcoholic beverages, bring lots more money as wines by the glass start at about $12and soar from there. Read more
