Reviews for Claws Seafood Market in West Sayville, NY
Not what i expected for the pricing. Nice enough outside. Softshell crab was poorly prepared and too dark. Oil needed to be... changed prior. Just not what i expected. The fish store itself looks great. Amazing varieties of fish, but the restaurant fellshort. Read more
This is one of our most favorite summer seafood spot! We had tried the lobster rolls ( naked lobster roll) and fried shrimp... dinner . Just perfect food! The staffs are very friendly also. Read more
One of the worst lobster rolls. The roll was toasted with no butter so it was too dry and the lobster had NO mayo and no taste.... Their lobster bisque was decent, which earned them 2 stars. Lobsters are expensive and we expected to pay high prices, but$34.99 for a half pound dry, tasteless lobster roll with NO fries or slaw was disheartening. I think we were supposed to get abag of Lay's chips but they must have forgot? Go to Red's or Twin Moutain Lobster Pound if you want to experience lobster thetrue Maine/New England way. Claws is a tourist trap. Read more
Very disappointed! One our usual summer stops was cut very short because of no working bathroom. There was no alternative, and... the servers didn't seem to care. I believe this is against the NYS health code. Read more
Stopped at Claws this afternoon on the way through West Sayville. I stayed in the car with the kids while my Italian chef wife... went in to pick up some seafood for dinner. She grabbed 50 steamers (piss clams) and some fresh tuna to grill for dinner. Uponentering the car, after persuading their assortment, their live soft shell crabs, etc, she states, ?I?ve been to seafood storesin Brooklyn, Queens, and all over and this is the best place I?ve ever seen.? I?m writing this as I sit at our backyard picnictable after we demolished the steamers she did on the stove with white wine, garlic, parsley, etc. Pics attached. The tuna is upnext. But your next stop should be Claws. While others are limited and the start so so, Claws brings the freshest, best tastingstuff in the seas. Read more
Great local spot that is becoming more and more popular. Have dined here 4 times already. The prices have gone up but that is... expected in COVID times. Ordered the delicious pan seared tuna encrusted with black sesame with a wasabi glaze and soy sauce. Was made perfectly. Very delicious and for $12 it was a very good deal. All served over a bed of seaweed salad. Also ordered theBuffalo shrimp for $10. Nice big and fresh shrimp. The Buffalo was perfect spice level. Came with a side of blue cheese whichwas a hit with me as I love Buffalo wings. Also ordered the classic lobster roll with a side of fries for $30. Lobster roll wasfresh with big chunks of lobster. Perfect lobster salad inside of a toasted bun. A leaf of lettuce inside to just hold ittogether and give it that crunch when biting down. The only disappointment was the lobster bisque. It was not even hot. Verybland. No seasoning in it. Seems like it was taken out of a bag and microwaved for a couple of seconds. Check the pictures Alsobtw. It?s right next to a creek and ducks come by to have some crackers or fires. Order at counter and sit outside and enjoy. Read more
Cool spot in Sayville. Has a cool outdoor dining area with a little creak embedded. Food was pretty good. We had lobster rolls,... fish and chips , New England clam chowder and lobster bisque. Only things I?d say is I wish they put more butter or Mayo, however they make it, when mixing the lobster claws. It lack a bit of something. And the lobster bisque had too much liquor, overpowering the lobster flavor. Fish and chips and New England were excellent! Staff was super friendly and efficient. Foodcame out fast. Parking ez out front. Prices are decent, good portions of food! Def recommend giving it a try! Read more
Got the lobster roll (double) and although it was pricey it was well worth it. The fries it came with were delicious as well.... Side note I did have to pull a long hair off the top of my lobster roll so I would suggest the staff wear hats or hairnetsmoving forward. Otherwise it's a cool little spot. Read more
