Drove some distance with a friend to eat lunch and enjoy the scenery. The scenery and drive were great, the food and quality,... not so much. Though the service was slow, we had a wonderful waitress but the quality of food was greatly lacking anddisappointing. Our food was not hot, the pork chop had very little flavor/taste, the tea was very weak and tasted VERY watereddown, my friends baked potato was old and had that mushy/yellow color and taste. Great breakfasts, baked pasta and smoked chicken for dinner was excellent.

Reasonably priced breakfast options for adults. We had the breakfast special two days and a regular option one day. The wait... staff was really friendly and quick. They made sure our coffees were topped off and gave us ones to-go as well. Read more

"Smokehouse" connotes deliciousness, and that is not what you'll find here. If you stay at the Shawnee Lodge, you're basically... hostage to this one lousy dining choice unless you want to drive 1/2 hr+ into a nearby town (needless to say delivery fromoutside isn't happening). There are NO other nearby options for any food when you stay here, and the lodge lacks a snack bar,frozen food for sale in a shop, or anything else except bagged snacks. On the plus side they serve fairly fresh complementarytake-out coffee to lodge guests. We got at two different meals a pulled smoked pork sandwich, smoked 1/2 chicken, and teriyakiwings. No smoke discernable in the pork and it tasted like like day old crock pot pork. The smoked chicken was a bland mass ofprotein with rubbery skin. The teriyaki wings were tasteless. My wife and I ate very little of either chicken entree and we areNOT that picky. The best item was a side salad. For the prices, we wrote off the restaurant after two meals. My guess is thekitchen mass prepares food every few days and heats up entrees for several days after, because nothing had any real flavor. TheSmokehouse makes Frisch's seem gourmet.... not kidding. For the quality, this restaurant is WAY expensive for what it serves anddoesn't seem to even try. If you stay at the lodge, tow a chuck wagon behind your vehicle if you want to eat anything decent. My only complaint is having to schedule around the hours. breakfast is 8-11 lunch 11-2. No Food being served between 2 and 5,... which is a bit ridiculous imo. The next closest restaurant is pretty far away. So on a rainy day like today I'm just waiting forthem to open. Read more

We visited midday during the week so we were the only folks dining. Our server took extremely good care of us. The menu has a... decent variety and the prices aren?t bad either. This was a much better experience than our last visit when it was the O-Hee-Yuh(or something similar) however our receipt did have the old restaurant?s name on it. Just something to be aware of when youbalance your account. Only negative was the odd choice of background music for the restaurant which was piano music withoutvocals for tunes such as ?Wind Beneath my Wings? and ?I Hope You Dance.?
