A neighborhood bar with gourmet food. We walked in and thought we had to be at the wrong place. The food I saw on their website... couldn't have been here. We were greeted (come to find out by the 2nd generation owner) and welcomed so we stayed. The serviceand the food were awesome! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. When I opened the door, I was ready to turn and leave because the atmosphere was not what I expected but I committed- and I'm... glad I did. The food was amazing, it was a little strange ordering from an ale carte menu, but really cool since you can doalmost anyything. I had a bacon wrapped scallop with a filet, and both were wonderful. NEVER AGAIN. A few of my co-workers and I work at the VA and ordered from here today. I called ahead of time for pricing since... it was not listed on their website. I was told a chicken caesar salad was $14. When my co-worker went to pick it up, it was $18,had like 10 small leafs of lettuce, and no silverware. The rest of the guys ordered burgers. They were all missing something.When we called to express our concern we were told they would call us back after they were past their busy hour. I asked ifthat's how we'd be treated if in the restaurant and was told no, but their chef was busy at the moment. We decided to call backas we were all hungry and missing something from what was originally ordered and was told we could bring the food in and they'dreplace after their busy hour. After moving to MKE we learned about this location because of its ties to the movie. We looked at the website and were confused... by the menu/non menu concept. After deciding to just give it a shot... WOW, did we miss out all this time!!! We loved our visitand being able to literally pick every item of our meal to be cooked however we wanted. It is like having a friend with thecoolest bar in his garage who just happens to know a fantastic chef that will cook you up whatever you want and every dish yougo DAMN THAT WAS GREAT The staff was fantastic. Came here for the first time yesterday (Sunday) to grab a meal before the game. We had a party of 6 so we made sure to arrive... early. We parked easily on the street almost 10 minutes before their official open time and the sign indicated they were openfor operation so we headed right in. We were greeted immediately by the bartender, Patrick, who was so incredibly welcoming andfun! He had us playing bar dice by 10am and he was helpful (we don't play bar dice regularly and guidance) a graciousloser! The kitchen is open concept and had our friends from the Oshkosh area excited to experience, particularly our friendwho's birthday we were celebrating. When I shared that detail, it immediately eliminated the other choices I had suggested.Birthday girl chose 4th Base and HOLY MOLY did it not disappoint. These reviews raving about the atmosphere, drinks and cuisineare not exaggerating! Our party ordered everything from shaved beef skillets (my selection and another guests and they wereOUTSTANDING), crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon, crab eggs benedict, a steak, seafood omlette & texas french toast. Nothingneeded to be seasoned. Everything was on point, super flavorful and EVERYONE wants to come back. We did have some"opportunities" that could have been improved. One order never made it to the kitchen. They did make the missing order andwere very apologetic. The french toast originally just came as toast. They remedied that quickly. It took close to 30 minutesfor our server to calculate our bill (which of course having an open concept kitchen with no menu keeps prices a bit mysterious)but in her defense, she was newer and we forgot to mention we wanted our bills split into 3 before we started imbibing andordering food. This DID NOT detract from the experience. We were patient and it didnt really postpone our intended departuretime. We are HOOKED and will be recommending 4th Base to EVERYONE! Read more
WOW, the food was packed with flavor! Initially the atmosphere made me feel like I was in the wrong place, even considering... going somewhere else. But I am so glad I stayed. The cook was very charismatic and gave the best tips on what to order. TheHangover burger was out of this world amazing! Even made me a pasta dish not on the menu. Fantastic experience. Stopped before going to a Brewer game. What you need to know is that the menu is “open”. You order... what you would like from the counter. I had a rare blue cheese burger with raw onion. Perfectly cooked. Also had oysters and aBloody Mary. Read more
