The store is not sanitary and the staff at the sea food counter has issues.. Rude and nasty.. Today when purchasing the fish the... man was nasty with attitude issues. When the fish was weighed he threw one of the fish so far out it landed on the ground. Heasked me if it was on the ground and i said yes. I am assuming he is asking me to pick it up but heck no. He went around and tomy amazement he threw it back into the basket to he sold. if he does that in front a customer imaging what other nasty stuffsare back there. Read more
One of my favorite markets in the Hartford area. Great deals on produce, meat, and prepared food. Imported items are a bit more... expensive but still very reasonable for what you're getting. Try the Banh Bao! Read more

A mooncake is a Chinese bakery product traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The festivalis about lunar appreciation and Moon watching, and mooncakes are regarded as a delicacy. Mooncakes are offered between friendsor on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. I went to A Dong in West Hartford, CT, the largest Asian grocery storebetween Boston ad New York, to check out what they had. The variety was very large so it was hard picking out the best. A lot of variety in the Asian Goods (most notably Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese) but prices are not the best, a bit... on the expensive side. Great for if you want to grab a long list of many types of food in one go. They have many types ofnoodles, fresh produce is limited but have a good variety of mushrooms. Large market with fresh veg and meat, frozen section, and shelf stable Asian and Indian ingredients like tea, sauces, flavor... mixes, and snacks. A whole aisle of dried noodles! Most item labels have limited English wording but primarily are labeled infull in non-English. Also a lot of items have no shelf labels so you wont know the price of everything. This may be a largestore but it's not Stop and Shop. The floors are not shiny. There are always boxes in the aisles. The lighting is poor. Thesigns hanging from the ceiling don't exactly line up with what is in that aisle, and the rice is at the end of the store, butthe long check-out line means shopping for rice will risk your place in line. The check out process is probably my biggestgripe. One line forms in the last aisle which you have to enter from the back of the store because it's so cramped with otherpeople and carts already in line and the bottleneck of rice shoppers, that you can't get in line from the front. Because thisbuilding was once a big name market, there are about 12 registers, but all the times I've been here, only 2 lanes are open soexpect to wait. They have lots of boxes available at the front if you prefer this over bags. While I feel this store could becleaner and better organized, you won't find a wider selection anywhere in the state, and it is still a standard visit any timeI'm near Hartford, to stock up on essentials and grab a few bags of dumplings (a full freeze aisle, both sides, alldumplings/dim sum!). The parking lot is awful. It's on a slope and because the entrance is in a 90 degree corner of this plaza,close parking is very limited, however, down the slope, there is more parking on the far end of the building, furthest from theentrance. I normally don?t write reviews, however I went to the store today and the customer service was terrible. I had loads of... groceries and brought my own bags. While being rung up by the cashier which was a young man, he was being extremely unkind. Ashe was scanning my groceries, I started putting my items in my bags. When this worker was done scanning, all he did was watchme, not helping at all, while I was left to bag my things by myself. I politely asked the cashier to help me, and he completelyignored me. I thought, okay weird, he must be having a bad day, right? This man walked away to do his own thing, while still Iwas bagging my groceries. The worker came back, took a glance at me and waved the next people in line to come over, while I wasonce again still putting my items in the bags. He pushed my groceries aside for the next people who he was helping, which Ifound very upsetting. I could have been lended a hand by this cashier, but he simply watched. Not only that, but once I got intomy car and looked at the receipt, the total was $220. I found this odd, as I was sure that I didn?t spend that much, and I wasright. After a closer look at the receipt, this man overcharged me $52 than what I should have paid for. I went back inside ADong and went back to the same, unhelpful cashier and told him that he overcharged me. He responded with, ?That?s okay,? noapology, no sorry, nothing. I got my money back, but I was infuriated at how badly I was treated today. Usually the service atthis store is alright, but today crossed the line. Very disappointed. I bought brown rice here 2 days ago. It had lots of rice bugs inside when I opend it. I called them and said I will send you the... video I took and the receipt but they just said they don't have any email, just bring that here. The store takes 40 mins by carfrom my house. They don?t check their ready to-eat food sold. I bought khoai mi on Sunday and mold already grew all over it on Monday. The food... must have been left unsold for days. There is no competition for Asian store in the Hartford area so this place can charge atany price. Squid sauce used to be .99$ but now 4$. Prices increase is ridiculous. Read more
