This is definitely a finer dining institution compared to the other places I've been in St. Louis... almost to a fault. I heard... great things about this place, but unfortunately my experience did not match expectations. Maybe that's my fault but here's howmy night went: First, the decor is beautiful. It is well designed, dimly lit, and great for a romantic outing or if you want tohave a nice dinner. Strangely, they were playing upbeat hip-hop/rap music, but at a low volume. We were sitting next to agigantic, colorful tapestry. The bar is the coolest part of the restaurant hands down. The dining experience itself waslacking. Our server seemed to be falling asleep as he described the entrees. He described them very well, but I couldn't hearhim with his very soft voice and relatively loud music. We ordered drinks and got them promptly, but going from drinks ->appetizers -> entrees -> dessert seemed too long. I get there's something to having a good time, but we were waiting for a whilefor simple requests such as ketchup. We were halfway through our entrees before we got ketchup and they missed one of theappetizers in our order (which was our most anticipated choice). The waiter did not write down our food selections, which Ithink is a "fine-dining" norm, but I guess it led to not getting our cauliflower. The most unfortunate part of our night wasthe food. Most of the entrees were severely over-salted. I thought it was just me, but I learned the next day one of mycolleagues was there at the same time I was at dinner. She also noted her food was way too salty. I did not enjoy my entrée andneither did most of the people at my table. This might have been a one-off, but this is my review of my evening. I hope I comeback and can say this review was a mistake.... Read more

I went and had one of the best experiences ever! I sat at the bar and Shawn was my server! He explained the menu well and had... great suggestions! His service was top tier and clearly he does this regularly because everyone was requesting him even patronsthat he didn't service that day even came up just to speak with him on their way out! I told him he was a hot commodity therelol. The food was fantastic! I tried oysters for the first time and now I want more lol I also had the blue crab dip mygoodness! Chefs kiss! The snapper was cooked to perfection and paired well with the black rice! Over all the experience wasworth the money I spent and I think everyone should try it out! Read more

We have had some of the best meals of our lives at Olive + Oak. My wife and I always try to go here when we are in the St Louis... area. The charred octopus is always my go to appetizer. On our last visit the pork porterhouse was amazing. Drink menu alwayshas a lot of amazing options, and the beer tap list is also great. Dessert never disappoints. Dining room is also beautiful, inviting, and has great vibes. Wait staff is also always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience.Come here, enjoy yourself, and let the good times roll! Read more

Big chic interior... beautiful and really pleasant to dine in. Nice cocktail list - I had the #121. Yummy amaro drink. ... Beautiful bar. The pork cheeks entree was pretty jaw droppingly good. The meat so tender I never had to use a knife. All arounda fantastic spot situated in a cute hilly neighborhood with lots of activity. What a gem! Read more

It has been my favorite dine-in place around Webster Groves over a few years. This place definitely has it all. Fresh oysters,... unique - yet delicious dishes, and perfect tables for small and large gatherings. I’d recommend Gaucho Steak and Baked Clams.Baked Clams come with pasta noodles with some crunch crumbs. So yum! Read more

A bit overrated and overpriced. We had both steak options and they were just okay, the tenderloin was super salty(the grilled... potato bread was best part of dish), the gaucho steak is a cheaper cut but had good flavor. The desserts were the highlight forme, really tasty options! Cool vibe inside and outside there’s a bar/patio area that’s technically a different space. Read more

Found O&O while searching for recommended place to eat before the opera at Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts. Made... a reservation and told them it was a birthday celebration. Was given the desired table but no mention of the birthday we werecelebrating. Had the hummus and Waldorf-ish salad for starters. Hummus and pita good, salad disappointing. Walleye with cheesygrits and collard greens was ok but way too salty. Husband had Caesar flank steak and birthday woman had salmon. All the foodwas decent but I didn’t care for over abundance of salt. The venue is interesting. Several places to go in one location itseems. The main room is very chic and cheerful. It’s a good place for happy hour I imagine. Happy hour drinks run $9 and nonHH $14. You can only get HH at the bar. The main room reminded me of Dauphine’s in DC and was almost as pricey. Read more
