I love bread. I grew up around bread. In many shapes, forms and sizes. And Cobs makes really good bread. Today was the last time... I'm going in the Cobs of Waterdown. Why? After a long list of groceries at the Walmart next door for the family I opted to notbuy the Walmart bread and go for the better quality (more expensive) bread of cobs. I didn't even realize the time but it was6.02 pm as I came to learn after. Store closes at 6pm. I walk in and ask for a loaf of bread. 2 young girls that were chattingbehind the counter tell me they closed at 6pm (it was 6.02pm... literally). I give it another try and tell them I just need aloaf can I get one? The answer is a straight, cold NO. The loafs of bread were right on front of me! They could have taken mypayment or if the register was closed give me one for free (which they don't sell the next day anyways) and make a customer fora lifetime. But no. I left with my head down wishing I bought bread at Walmart. Now I have 2 questions for you reading this: 1)would this have happened if this was not a big corporation/ franchise and it was a small independent owner operation? I knowvery well that these franchises are independently owned but still ran and governed by the rules of the corporation. 2) shouldwe (consumers) give up better (in this case more personable) service for the sake of standardization of product? There is noheart in the core of franchises. An independent bakery would probably ask me to come tomorrow, where I would go on to tell themmy wife just made my favourite soup and we have been craving cobs bread for tonight. Maybe then we would figure out a way for meto walk out with a loaf. At the end of the day the employees did nothing wrong. The problem is that they did nothing righteither to help the situation. You just lost a customer Read more

This bakery is great! It's nice having a place to get fresh bread! But....... today I came in to buy some bread and I saw an... worker accidentally drop a loaf on the floor and very quickly picked it up and put it back right back on the shelf. Also nogloves or sleeves were used to put the fallen bread back on the shelf lol. I mean if you drop the loaf maybe just pretend totoss it and then when all the customers are gone put it back like a normal person. Lollll Read more

Picked up a Mother?s Day order on behalf of someone else, when I arrived I showed them the corresponding order number and name... for the order, and they still gave me the wrong one. Had to drive all the way back to switch it for the correct one, and theemployees? response to me was ?that?s why you should have checked the receipt!? News flash Cobs: nobody cares how good yourproduct is if you don?t give good customer service. Read more

The place has a good selection of freshly baked bread items. Tried a pastry, ham and spinach croissants and they were yummy!!

Went in for my first time yesterday and got two sourdough loaves. Couldn?t wait to eat one in the car and it was kind of gross!... It tasted like any bread you would buy in a grocery store and not a bakery. I bought the flaxseed sourdough. The crust just fellright off the bread, literally separated in my hands so I wonder if it was baked properly. The bread did not taste healthy atall but more like regular white bread with a few flax thrown in to seem healthy. Won?t be going back. Might not actually eat thebread either Read more

I've gone here since it first opened. Great selection of homemade bread. I also like how they donate old bread not sold rather... than dispose of it like many other stores do. I thoroughly enjoy getting bread from here and supporting the store. Only commentfor those who have not gone here is you'll find the bread will expire or get hard fairly quickly as there's not all thepreservatives found in typical grocery store breads, just FYI. Good natural tasty bread and delicious treats here. Read more

Stopped in to check out the new location. It was clean and well-lit. Items were well marked in font size large enough for me to... read without my glasses, and calorie counts listed for individual items. They had several different types of savoury and sweetbread items (spinach and feta croissants, pizza breads, multiple types of hot cross buns, dinner rolls, multiple types ofscones) and loaves of bread. There were displays around the front entrance as well as a table the middle, which I think might bein the way if more people were in the store, but with 4 customers we worked our way around the display table in the middle ofthe front area. Staff were very friendly. They offer samples if you want to taste something before committing to purchasing. They also have access to all ingredients lists at the front line, so if you want to hear ingredients, they will happily readevery last one to you. I picked up the country grain loaf, which they offered to slice thick or thin - very good! I alsorecommend the white chocolate berry scones - fluffy and light, just the right level of sweetness. Service was prompt, courteous, professional and staff were cheerful to boot. You can also see into the back and observe bread being baked fresh on premises. Read more
