If you like to eat good Italian food and you know what it should taste like Don?t go here!! Ordered the shrimp and scallops over... pasta Scallops had turned so I sent it back I decided to go with the bolognese sauce which I figured was a safe pick No!!? Morelike bolognese soup For there prices they should be thinking about home made pasta rather then store bought pasta that I canmake at home with a real sauce The only reason I did give it 2 stars is our waitress was on point and you could really tell shecared I have been in the restaurant business for 30 years so I know what great Service and great food should be This fell wayshort She must?ve apologized to me at least four times for what the kitchen did One last thing get some real espresso Becausewhat ever your using was a embarrassment to Italian coffee I really was looking forward to a great date night out with good Italian food Just really disappointed Read more

Always good, hearty Italian food and pleasant service. A neighborhood gem, for sure. But worth a drive to vist too, if you... want a sophisticated setting that doesn't feel too fancy and a big portion of classic Italian dishes. Read more

Passing through Waterbury we were excited to try D?Amelios. We were seated (outdoors) promptly. Had a lovely server Julianna who... provided excellent service. Our meals were very good. However, the restaurant has posted hours until 10pm on a Saturday night. We were finishing up our wine when at 9:10pm we could see we were the only patrons remaining at the restaurant. We confirmedwith our server that the restaurant was open until 10pm and had wanted to finish our wine. She assured us ?yes? and to please?take our time and enjoy your wine?. A few moments later, the stringed lights to the outdoor patio seating were turned off. Weasked again about staying to finish our wine and were told yes. A moment later, a different staff person came outside andunplugged all of the remaining lights to the outdoor seating leaving us in complete darkness. Needless to say, we left. It was avery bold and rude action for a business to literally force us out when clearly their hours of operation were until 10pm. Sadly, will never come here again. Read more

Fun evening this June weekend in a private room for a NIABA/CIABA event. Before joining the party we chatted with Joey D'Amelio... who was outside happily opening fresh oysters and clams for the raw bar. We then stopped at the bar for a couple of cocktailsbefore heading downstairs for dinner. The packed tables of lively diners were served platters of antipasto, penne with shavedparmesan, a medley of fried seafood, sausage with broccoli rabe, and a mixed greens salad. Cannolis with either chocolate ortraditional shells were for dessert along with cappuccino and biscotti. # Everything we had during our lunch yesterday wastremendous. Choosing D'Amelio's in the Town Plot section of Waterbury on our way back from some business in a neighboring town,we chose correctly. Exquisite flavors throughout the whole dining experience. A favorite spot of my partner's since theeighties, when it was a small Italian grocery store and deli where he would get hot and cold grinders, to twenty years or sopresently when it became a popular restaurant. Starting with their cucumber martini with Hendricks gin, I have to say it's thebest cucumber martini I've ever had - sheer perfection in taste, balance and chill. (Patrons can order this with a Crop cucumbervodka, too.) Their cocktail menu is impressive. The cabernet sauvignon was smooth and paired well with our orders. TheMozzarella Di Casa, scrumptious with a good crunch on the breading and a creamy lemon butter wine sauce, is an appealing changefrom the En Carozza version of this appetizer, which is always served with a red sauce. Cut in four delectable triangles, thepresentation is visually tempting before even taking a bite. The soup of the day was their take on chicken gumbo, so since it'sFebruary and cold, we shared a cup. A sizable portion packed with chicken, chorizo sausage and vegetables, a bowl of this wouldbe a hearty flavorful meal in itself. The house bread is also spot-on with two kinds - one with a sesame seed Read more
