This place has great food! I always make it a point to stop by if I'm in town to get a fajita salad with a horchata and I am one... happy camper. The price is very reasonable and the staff is super friendly. Love this place Read more

Their prices are higher now; whose aren?t? But, this place is still a solid deal on the Hill: one of the last of the affordable... and satiating places to eat still left on the hill. Before the Hill gets even more bougie than it is now, make time to try thisplace, now, to get a taste of a blue collar meal that will fill you up for the rest of the day! Try the Salvadoran breakfast, ora side of the delicious sweet sautéed plantains, depicted in my photo, or the Mexican breakfast, a breakfast burrito with eggand crumbled chorizo, a seasoned sausage. As of April, 2022, this wonderful hidden treasure IS OPEN for dining inside, or ontheir patio seating out front, across from Eastern Market. Read more

Tortilla cafe has amazing papusas! Try the papusa platter, you won't be disappointed. It also comes with two sides of your... choosing. This is a fast place to grab a quick bite, and on the cheaper side, but definitely delicious. Read more

Excellent service. The menu is digital, which was off-putting, but overall a good experience. Patio seating was nice, with... sun-umbrellas and WiFi. Delicious breakfast with plantains, and they have a wide beverage selection including house madehorchata. Read more

It would be dangerous for me to live/work closer to Tortilla Cafe. The pupusa platter is perhaps the single best intersection of... deliciousness and low cost that you'll find anywhere in D.C. Love how this place has continued a long track record of makinggood, affordable food. It's rare to find a spot in this neighborhood that's survived as long as Tortilla Cafe has, but that's nocoincidence. They've found a real recipe for success. Read more

True hole in the wall. I can see why Guy F enjoyed this place. Ordered the empanana player and was not disappointed. My wife... and two kids enjoyed the visit as well. The food came out hot and fresh even though it was near closing time. The settinginside was quaint and was great for my family. Easy to locate and was conveniently located next the marketplace. The servicewas also top notch. The staff were very friendly and clearly shows they enjoy what they do. My only opportunity is the needfor a better selection of drinks, specifically tea. But that does not affect my 5 star rating!!!! Read more

Stoners' be warned! I mean "DAMN" I have eaten a lot of papusas in my lifetime, but the papusa I just got from Tortilla Cafe is,... by far, the best I've had. Not only is the food reasonably priced, it is overflowing with cheese and maxed out on flavor. It isdefinately a best kept secret. Many thanks to Rodrigo. Read more
