It is a small place, many would probably describe it as a hole in the wall, but it didn't have that feel to me. The chef, Peter,... (and I am calling him a chef by the way he listened to and took care of us, plus the confidence he put in the food), was verynice and attentive. Everything was made to order. It was a combination of West African cuisine and a small sprinkle of Americanand soul food dishes. I had the crab cake sandwich, which used no nasty filler material, but mostly delicious crab meat andherbs, falling apart at every bite. It was definitely worth it, and for a good price. I had mac and cheese which was good, despite not using elbow macaroni (not sure if that's how they regularly make it or not...should have asked). My son had thegrilled chicken sandwich which he tore up. The collard greens were flavored heavy with vinegar, so they are an acquired tastefor me, but were better when I put lemon pepper and paprika on them at home. The blackened salmon I brought home for somebodyelse who told me, I should have tried their's, and that they would go back for more. So clearly that was good. It lookeddelicious, very soft and tender, not dry and white. I can't wait to taste the peanut butter soup (my favorite dish since I wasa kid). So please support this establishment, I know I will! Easy to get to, since it's a couple of stores up from the AnacostiaArts Center. There are a couple of small 2-chair tables, if you want to sit and eat with your partner or child too. Pleased tomeet you, Open Crumb???? Read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Everything on the menu is good!! Even the veggies are to die for. I highly recommend... the veggie bowl and the fried fish meal. The servers are also incredibly friendly and kind. This has become one of my newfavorite spots. I literally tell everyone about it. You will not be disappointed if you eat here! Read more

I didn't care for the yellow jollof rice. No seasoning on the food. It was waste of lunchbreak. I got the veggie platter. The... Mac and cheese and plantain were good. Read more

Open Crumb is great! After reading reviews for months, we stopped by for lunch. We were so excited. The fried chicken was fried... fresh, and we also picked up some hot sauce. It stayed crispy through a 20 min drive back home to NE, and everything tastedamazing. Can?t wait to come back. Read more

I love this hidden Afrikan Resturant in Southeast DC. It is a black owned business in my neighborhood that provides healthy... quality options. The family that runs it, is from Ghana... they make the bread in house from scratch, make the fries fromscratch, and speciality handcrafts all of the meals and the prices are reasonable... so far I had the ackee wrap and thechickpea wrap... one of these days I will try the jollof rice with the pan seared catfish Read more
