Pretty tasty food, the wait was a bit long but it was worth it. The chicken Marsala was flavorful, but all of the food was a bit... on the spicy side even though we asked for mild. So if you like spicy, then this is the place. The mango lassi was very yummy. Read more

I'm absolutely in love with this spot!! I'm usually a little cautious about Indian food in D.C. (I've generally found it to be... overpriced and mediocre), but I was in the area with a few friends on Saturday evening and decided to pop by for dinner. I'm soglad that I decided to stop by despite all of my hesitations!! Starting off with the atmosphere -- Bombay is a bustling shopwith wonderful energy, vibrant decor, and really friendly staff. It can get a little busy on the weekends, so definitely planfor that, but Bombay's service is still amazingly speedy (and near-perfect) despite the rush. And the food...wow. First of all,I was incredibly grateful for the number of clearly marked vegan options! Most Indian restaurants that I go to are great ataccommodating vegetarian diners, but not vegans (or, at the very least, they don't make life super convenient by creating anentire vegan section of the menu in the way Bombay does). Their kolhapuri vegetable was listed as a "must try" and it did notdisappoint in the slightest -- the dish was amazingly flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, a rich and deep flavorwithout feeling greasy or overwhelming, and a wonderful balance of textures from the various vegetables they added. There seemedto be corn, peas, carrots, green beans, and likely a few other goodies in the mix. It was served with fluffy and aromaticbasmati rice on the side, and there was plenty of food to feed two (or, in my case, me for two meals :D ). My friends' dishesalso seemed delightful -- one (fellow vegetarian) tried out the aloo manchurian and enjoyed it quite a bit, and my two otherfriends tried out their biryanis. One tried out the goat biryani and the other the lamb, and both said that their dishes broughtquite the kick! There was a bit of dough covering the top of the biryani bowls, though, and it didn't look entirely cooked -- itwas still a bit stretchy and wet, and it didn't have the classic charred look that most breads atop biry Read more

We went with to this place with high hopes only to be disappointed. As we started placing our order for Bombay Thali ( which... includes 6 curries and other items), we were told we can?t swap red meat dishes with chicken curries, which was reallyfrustrating. So, we went with two main courses - Chicken tikka masala and Vegetable Kohlapuri. I was completely shocked by thelack of quality and blandness of both these items, the chicken tikka masala was watery with barely any flavour whereas theVegetable Kohlapuri was a basically a bag of frozen veggies thrown together in a curry sauce, which tasted nothing likeKohlapuri. The reason this place gets three stars was the Vada Paav, I absolutely enjoyed this dish, had the right spice and wasfull of flavour. Overall, this restaurant is definitely overpriced for it?s lacking quality, and I would only recommend it forsmall bites and drinks. Read more

Good Indian food with a distinct flavor. Had the gobi manchurian that has a twist where the gobi was crispy and sauced well. Had... kheema pav that was tasty. The biryani was yummy at its own level not to compared with other biryani's. The kids loved it andkeep talking about coming back to cut their dum biryanis that is covered with a dough. This is one of our favorite places. Thefood is tasty and more of a fusion to suit the american pallete. Read more

As you enter this beautiful restaurant, the gorgeous Indian artwork and aromatic spices that fall upon your senses will... transport you to the streets of Mumbai :) I had a delicious and flavor packed meal here a couple weeks ago and am stillthinking about how amazing it was! I started out the meal with the crispy palak chaat and the vada pav appetizers. The palakchaat is a typical Indian street food that consists of deep fried spinach leaves that are topped with a sweet & sour tamarindsauce and a cooling & refreshing garlic yogurt. The whole dish is topped with sev, which is a deep fried crunchy noodle made ofchickpea flour paste and seasoned with turmeric & cayenne! The vada pav was very tasty as well! It consists of spiced potatopatties that were exploding with garlic, ginger, and garam masala and are wedged in between bread that is softer than yourpillow. Its served with a side of cilantro mint chutney and sev for some crunchy contrast and was such a great way to start themeal! For the main course, I highly recommend the lamb biryani - you won't be disappointed! It had tons of tender and juicychunks of fork-tender lamb. The rice was spiced well and was very fragrant as you could pick up notes of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves & cumin that it was cooked in. It was cooked in the traditional Mumbai method, with a raw dough lid and seal. The waiterserves the biryani and cuts open the dough lid/seal to reveal the steaming hot biryani, it was quite the presentation! The hotchai tea and decadent, rich gulab jamuns were the perfect way to end the meal. If you want to travel to India through yourstomach, look no further than Bombay Street Food 2! Read more

Amazing ambience and even better taste. Everything was superb, my new fav spot in DC. The manager was even friendlier too and... checkin about the service and share details about the other locations and the founder. Our server was amazing too, added lastminute request to our order once we forgot to alter slider remark. Had authentic taste and flavor of all spices. It made ourlast day in DC worth it. Read more

Best Indian I've had in so long. The staff was also so sweet. We asked for a recommendation on the appetizer and it blew our... minds, the crispy spinach with yogurt (name doesn't do it justice) was the best Indian dish I've ever had. Also got the chickenbiryani and my husband raved I got lamb Rogan Josh which was different than I've had at other places but was deliciously spicedand tender less sweet than I've had which I enjoyed. Next time I'm in DC I will be coming back Read more

Good food, it is definitely very Maharashtrian and Mumbai for. The dahi puri was amazing if you like the Pune/Mumbai style. Did... not try the vada pav but it looked good. Shared the non-veg thali and also ordered chicken tikka masala. Ask for higher spicelevel if you want it. Taste and flavor is good. Ambience is worth sitting inside to eat. Service on Wednesday evening was fasteven though they had a lot of takeout orders! Read more
