Reviews for Jackson Harbor Soup in Washington, WI
One of the best soup and sandwich places around. I come from an urban area and the pace at the restaurant is different than the... go to go of the city. And that's a good thing. Had to wait in line a bit but worth the wait. Beautiful harbor view. Great food.Kind and considerate staff. Read more
I'm not sure why this place has so many great reviews - we had a pretty bad experience when we went. We were on Washington... Island over Labor day weekend and obviously expected delays. But what we didn't expect was not being warned about how long thefood was going to take and having to wait for over 1.5 hours!! The place ambience is good with water views, picnic tablesoutside and even cornhole boards to play with. But the wait drained us - we had kids and elders with us who were so long forlunch. The college kids working looked hassled and it looked like they had a big catering order that was taking a long time toorganize. When you know you are going to get large crowds and you have a catering order, either hire more people to work or knowwhen to turn away people. They brought the carrot ginger soup kettle to the table and then took it back saying they hadn'tbrought the crackers, then brought it back 20 min later and apologized for running out of crackers!! By this time, the soupquantity looked reduced (I'm guessing they ran out of soup and skimmed some for another order). The soup was hardly warm, buttaste wasn't too bad. The pesto sandwich was very good and the quesedillas were okay. The bumbleberry pie was the best part. Iwould not recommend this place, but there are hardly any options on the island. We went here because they had vegetarianoptions. If there is a next time, I'll probably pack a picnic lunch instead. Read more
The soup and sandwiches my husband and I got were extremely good: French onion soup, Grammy's potato soup, wreck of the Iris... sandwich, and French dip sandwich. The view outside while eating is amazing. The bathroom is clean. Read more

Recently had a vacation on Washington Island. We ate at several restaurants and this was the best. There were two soups... available one was vegetarian and another was vegan. My beer cheddar soup was stellar as was my pesto, blue cheese sandwich. Themenu informs you as to what is vegetarian, what is vegan, and gluten free choices. You order at the counter and your food isbrought to your table. There is plenty of outdoor seating and it was a beautiful day. There were lawn games for the kids and forthe adults. Rock Island is across the water and adds to the ambiance to the place. Sitting near the door I saw some very goodlooking desserts coming out. If you're on the island I would highly recommend this place. Don't miss it! Read more
I don't usually order soups, but since it was in the name I figured it was a safe bet and man was I right. We tried the potato... soup????. We also had a piece of cherry pie which was phenomenal with its' perfect crust and filling. You must stop here, evenif not hungry, just to get a taste. They also have some beautiful outdoor dining views. Read more
The folks that own and operate this place grew up in the hospitality industry, So it means something when I say that their... even-temperament Goes a long way to making people feel welcome and taken-care-of. Typically have between 3 and 5 soups availableon the menu, At least 4 or 5 sandwiches and a variety of specials such as quesadillas and gigantic house salads. Had the whitefish chowder, quite delicious, Though I wish it had more fish versus potatoes. French onion soup is quite satisfying with a niceoniony sweetness. Reuben was great, To the point where I hope they experiment with pastrami because I think they could make akilling selling a sandwich like that. Salad was so massive my mother took it home and will probably be eating it well into thiscoming weekend (also, they make their own blue cheese dressing). Very low-key atmosphere, situated On the shore facing North, which means you should probably bring a coat for the wind if you eat outside. The pie was awesome, I'm a blueberry hound. Lovethe feel of the place and the food is very no-frills, stick to your ribs, tasty and straightforward. A must if you visit theisland in the summer or fall, especially. Make sure you check their hours though. Read more
