Not terrible but not impressive. Jambalaya should be served over rice not engulfed in rice. A ramekin of rice in a wide bowl and... ladle jambalaya, red beans or gumbo overtop. Also seemed the "heat" level was just heat and no flavor with that heat. Be carefulwith what heat level you choose. Cayenne is strong. Also more creole than cajun with the odd tomato in it. The boudin is so overpowered by a strong taste of sage. Not even the correct spices. They are more like fried stuffing balls instead of boudin balls. Those two (jambalaya and boudin balls) aren't terrible. And to those unknowing, okay. The catfish filets, hushpuppies, fries andfried okra are awesome! And the coleslaw is better than most bbq places. My husband asked for a mango margarita and he likedit. These are the opinions of a NE Texas girl and a Louisiana boy that were raised on these type of foods. Use that info as youwant. Read more

Had a wonderful dinner with my wife and daughter, wife and I had the oyster dinner with fries and coleslaw and the daughter had... boneless wings. Food was good, although the wait to get it was a little long. Definitely need more wait staff, only owner andhis wife, taking orders, delivering food and busing tables, place was full, but it is Friday night. I usually eat lunch here, food is always good. The fried green tomatoes were good as well. Read more

I love this place!! The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the service is impeccable!! I love that they have 1/2... plates, I always get the shrimp and grits (trust me, they’re amazing!!) and then order another 1/2 plate. This last time I gotthe gumbo and had them make it spicy, man, so good; their sweet potato fries and sauce, magnificent!! Definitely on my places togo whenever I’m out that way!! Read more

I want to preface this with I am NOT a picky eater and rarely have many bad things to say. Maybe we went on a bad night. The... pickle chips and margarita were the best part. I got the Zydecos Pasta which wasn't awful, the shrimp didn't have much flavornor was there much of it, the vegetables in the pasta weren't seasoned and seemed to be just steamed veggies. The sauce in thepasta was good in taste but super thin. Lime Margarita was delicious. The real bad part was the Jambalaya, which we thoughtwould be a speciality and perfected since it's basic Cajun food. It tasted like burnt tomato paste. The waitress was nice butseemingly short staffed or not able to handle the amount of tables while also seating people and bringing out food. She nevercame back to our table after we got our food and we couldn't get her attention with everything else she had to focus on. My datewouldn't eat his food and neither would I. By the time she came back we asked for the check as we were past the point of askingto try something else or talk to a manager about it. I don't blame the waitress but something was super off because I've heardmostly good things about this place and was super excited to go on a date night here. The inside of the restaurant side alsojust feels strange. Not very welcoming atmosphere or even comfortable really.. no booths on the restaurant side. For $14-17 fora dinner serving I'd just expect something a bit better? Probably should of tried it first for lunch portions but overall not agreat experience. Read more

In town to visit ucm. This was different and close to hotel. Boasted a Louisiana/cajun menu. Fried pickles and okra to start.... Didnt pay attention on menu that pickles were sweet pickles(which i dont care for) but they worked with the bit of spice to thebreading. They were obviously breaded there as well. Family said okra was very good also. I had the catfish with regular friesand sweet potato fries. My family likes the spice but me not so much so I was happy the catfish breading was just normal and notspicy. Regular fries had a bit of pepper kick I wasn't expecting but good. 2 in our group did the 1/2 plate options because theycouldnt decide. Homemade chips were perfect. Triple decker club was massive-real turkey breast chunks-not a cold cut. Husbandloved the gumbo. He also ate all of his bread pudding before I could get a taste. Beignets were ok. Not like what I've had innew Orleans but then again we are above sea level here so maybe that's the difference ????. Great service. Priced appropriately. Would return Read more
