We had the Mongolian beef, salt and pepper shrimp, shrimp fried rice, lemon chicken, salt and pepper fish. The food was... disappointing. It's America Chinese food similar to Panda Express! It lacked flavor. The lemon chicken was orange. We asked ifit was really lemon chicken bc you really couldn't taste the lemon flavor. The server spoke to the chef and they said it waslemon chicken but they put more food coloring than normal! I gave this place 3 star's bc of the ambience, the server and thedrinks. If you want delicious food but little customer service this is the place. It brings in a younger crowd on the weekends, plays... good 2000s music and has super nice outside seating. They have vegan options and I highly reccomend the Tofu Claypot dish. Read more
If you are ever in Walnut Creek, this restaurant is a MUST visit!! From the ambiance to the servers to the food, everything was... a hit. It even has an outdoor patio, and great music playing inside and out. I personally didn't know what to order sinceeverything on the menu looked delicious so we ended up just ordering what the owner suggested. I loved every single dish andeven order few desserts after, we took the leftovers home and I demolished it later that night... lol 5/5 for cleanliness,speed, service, food and the vibes. Happy hour times are incredible, delicious food at affordable price. Open fire pit areas and Lounge great ambience as well as... heated seating even the owners and staff are very friendly. Modern China Cafe is a lively, high energy lounge with a greatatmosphere, spectacular fire-pit seating, authentic Chinese cuisine, and a fantastic mixology bar. Food and vibes always on 100 here! This is one of the dopest places on this strip, the customer service is always good,... bathrooms are always clean, SMALL AF!!! But clean, well at least the mens!!!! Get the house fried rice!!!! 5 stars cause thefood was great! And this place is usually on point. -2 stars for You have to Make sure they charge you for the correct itemstho. Didn?t realize I got OVERCHARGED, until left. Charged my for higher priced items. This place is good but definitely more American Chinese food then Authentic. However we still really did enjoy it! Service was... amazing. We went about 1pm. It was not busy at all we got a seat right away. The food came out super fast not even 15 minutes after when we got our first plate. My mom order the sidecar that was on their cocktail menu and she loved it. I would recommendto get their spicy crispy fried chicken. Read more
The hot clay pot with prawn is out of this world. The perfect amount of spice and lots of umami. The other dishes... Some good,... some not so good. The curry clay pot is probably my least favorite of the bunch because the flavor is bland and way too muchveggie to curry ratio. But for the price, it is well worth it.
