We visited this restaurant today based on a lot on the reviews we’d read. We ordered general Tso chicken and shrimp & chicken... mei fun noodles. The “breast” addition for the general tso chicken required an up charge. We’re rather new to this areaand I guess we’re just used to these entrees being way different. The chicken in the general tso chicken, for example, waschewy and was cut in thing strips. The taste was ok, but the texture of the chicken was very disappointing. Probably the best Chinese food in Wake Forest. Went there for lunch today and was met by the owner saying we don't have the... buffet. We said that's fine will just order off the menu. This was now our third time dining at Hong Kong Restaurant and I can say confidently that I have found our go-to Chinese... restaurant. All three times we've ordered take out the food has been ready, it has been correct, and it has been delicious.There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in the Wake Forest area but this is by far my favorite. What really sets it apart fromthe others are the portion sizes. Other restaurants do half rice half chicken when you order something like General Tso andwhile good, feels like a cheat. Hong Kong Restaurant does a full container of chicken and rice on the side. A pretty underwhelming Chinese Take-out. I ordered lunchtime combo pepper steak and onion w/egg roll and fried rice for $10.28.... Short on meat and overall bland taste. Panda Garden, Wake Forest has much better fare for a cheaper price! Read more
Not what I ordered at all. I ordered kung pao chicken online (so there shouldnt have been a communication issue.) What I... received had not a single vegetable in it. It was chicken with peanuts in a sauce that tastes more like General Tso thananything else. Glad I ordered soup too or else I would have gone hungry today. I am upset. This was not a pleasant experience. Waste of $13. Read more
