Celebrated our Anniversary at Amalia's. First time, and was excited based on all of the good reviews. Well I'm very happy to say... that Amalia's lives up to the hype! Service being the highlight for me, was some of the best I've had in the triangle area. Ourfriendly server helped us navigate through each course, and helped us select an amazing Italian wine to accompany our meal. Veryfriendly staff! Food was great, with each course delivered with the right pacing. The ambiance makes you feel right at home.Definitely a fine dining experience, and not for a quick meal, especially if you go through each course. A great specialoccasion restaurant. The ambiance is fantastic! We were greeted by a lovely young woman who immediately escorted us to our table. The rest is an... older house that?s been remodeled into a very pleasant restaurant. We were seated in the room to the left of the entrance. There?s quite an extensive wine list with an exclusive house specialty wine. My husband and I each ordered a cocktail from themenu. ABSOLUTELY perfectly prepared and delivered! Our waitress was friendly but not overwhelming. Also perfect. The menuoffers are varied and unique. Each item we ordered was incredible. We chose this as my mother is Italian and it was her birthday. Atmosphere and service was EXCELLENT!! Everyone was so nice and... helpful. However, we waited over an hour for our food. Which is fine for great things - however I ordered the truffle pasta thatwas ALL Butter. It was swimming in butter. Everyone was very nice but I would not eat the food again. Since moving from Minnesota to North Carolina, I have been looking for that one, intimate Italian restaurant that stands out... from the rest and that I could rely on for an intimate evening out. This establishment literally hit home, its is intimate, itis welcoming, accommodating and more than capable of meeting expectations. Although reservations are highly welcomed, I wouldassume they take walk-ins. Now most of ALL Italian restaurants have that I have visited in the fine state of NC eitherexcelled or failed at one thing, and that being Gnocchi. Mediocre restaurant's will serve a very large serving of store boughtgnocchi married to a mediocre sauce or serve a house made gnocchi, married to a quality sauce. Amalia's not only married aquality pesto sauce to an amazing house made gnocchi, they fine tuned the portion and serve fresh bread to allow the soaking upof the remainder of that wonderful sauce, unlike many of the greedy Americanized restaurants looking to profit on every aspectof the dining experience, by charging in one direction or the other. They also surpassed my expectations on the quality of thelasagna! I would consider Amalia's lasagna of the two best I have experienced elsewhere across the globe. It was phenomenal andquite unique! I will look forward to this again. Generally speaking I would have to say Amalia's has the best customer serviceand attention to detail I have experienced thus far. They will go out of there way to make sure you're dining experience isperfect, and this opinion coming from someone whom has had the luxury of dining in Michelin rated restaurants overseas, I nowadore this establishment and would hope everyone visiting will as well.
