Reviews for Coastal Cafe in Virginia Beach, VA
I enjoyed my Sunday brunch at the cafe. Food was awesome and fast service too. Bloody Mary was scrumptious ????
Why is this place named 'CAFE' when it is actually a BAR?!?!? The place and food were not appealing. I was coming for coffee,... so I didn't stay. When entering and exciting, there was someone smoking by the door, ignoring common courtesy to thoseentering/exiting and blowing disgusting smoke in their face. There should at least be a designated smoking area. It didn'tseem like the place I even wanted to be in. I ask that you change the name to something less DECEIVING! Maybe Coastal BAR??? Read more
We live in the neighborhood and have been going there for years. Food is ALWAYS good. Wings are ridiculously good. Now that they... added their outdoor seating I got to take my mom and kids up for shrimp Tuesday! We love this place! Read more
Such an amazing place! I've been here a few only a times. Service has always been wonderful. I popped in to see my friend and... grab a bite. The owner took the time to come over and introduce herself to my son and I. She sat with us for a good 15 minutestalking with my son and gave him some encouraging words. (those words made a world of difference that day) She definitely madeus feel welcome! We will be returning more often. Read more
04JAN22 ~ I had a wonderful dining experience with my oldest brother, this is his favorite 'go to' restaurant. This hidden gem... in the Kempsville area is locally & family owned. It has a friendly, non-pretentious atmosphere. We went there for the Tuesdaynight 'Shrimp Special'. It was great. The shrimp were plentiful, large, tasty, and perfectly cooked. It comes with meltedbutter for dipping & cocktail sauce. The hush puppies & Cole slaw were also excellent. Our waitress, Stefanie, was everythingI would want in a waitress. She was genuinely friendly with a warm smile, she was articulate/well spoken, helpful, and came byat just the right times, not too much & not too little. The prices were exceptionally reasonable. Whenever I go to visit myfamily in Virginia Beach we always eat there at least once per visit. Read more
It?s a Bar with Cafe in the name. After seeing all of the high ratings on Google and Yelp, a friend and I ventured over to... Kempsville to check it out. The high ratings might have been posted by intoxicated guests. I think, maybe. It?s pretty much adive bar atmosphere with regulars already on their second or third drink by noon. They were going outside outside frequently tosmoke. Some lighting up before walking out. Everyone was very friendly - from the owner to the bartender/server and thecustomers. They seem to really enjoy each other and have a lot of fun. There were photos of annual Salt Water Charter Boatfishing trips with the whole crew. For people who are looking for a hang out, this could be it. Just not for my friend andme.(non-drinkers). The server, who was taking care of everyone was very sweet, she asked our names and remembered them! Shewas also cleaning when she wasn?t taking care of the customers. The establishment looks old inside but was very clean. Foodwise: The lumpia was very good. And the appetizer serving size was substantial. The server said it was ?frozen, boxed stuff.?After my review, the owner responded and said the lumpia is from Gloria?s bakery. Gloria?s bakery is a local Filipino Bakerywith house made lumpia. Unfortunately, We were not impressed with the rest of the food. $40 w tea and coke. Just couldn?t eatit. My Reuben tasted like it was made with cheap packaged corned beef and imitation Swiss slices. The cheese cooled and becamelike plastic. The bread was not buttered and grilled or toasted and the bottom of the sandwich was wet and soggy. My friendsaid the blue cheese on her burger was strong and overpowered the other flavors, and this is a women who loves blue cheese. Heronion rings, fresh from a package and fried, were too hard to eat. My sandwich came with a side salad which I asked to beplaced in a takeout container since the sandwich and salad were too much food for me after already munching on Read more
We tried the new sub The Johnny Y~ It was Philly beef steak, grilled O's, mozzarella, marinara & pepperoni on a garlic toasted... roll. It was so good, we loved them!???? Just the right amount of everything! I got mine without the onions. (We would haveloved more buttery garlic on the inside of the bread, but that is a personal preference) Hubbys Tatar Tots were cookedperfect. His chili mac n cheese was good. The regular Mac n cheese was a little dry. Once I added milk, extra cheese & pepper itwas good to go. Would definitely order the sub again!???????? Read more
