The food was fabulous. Hot pork sandwich, fries do die for and fried green tomatoes. The fries have changed for the better. They... did serve crinkle cut. Wow. If you are traveling down I-20, you will want to make a little effort to get to Evans BBQ Company. You will not regret... your decision. The experience starts with the quaint setting in a shaded courtyard. Colorful decor liven up the area. Greetedby a smiling staff enhance the experience as they are on point from overall service to knowledge of the menu and wonderfulsuggestions. Started with BBQ egg rolls. Crisp on the outside, juicy & flavorful BBQ pork on the inside. Wings were the choicefor the three kids. Lemon Pepper, BBQ and Mild were the three choices. They are smoked AND fried. What a combo!! Mild Buffalowas my favorite but would do all three again. A friend and I split the Boss Hog and Chicken fingers. You ask why chickenfingers? Because they are huge chunks of chicken, hand breaded, served crisp. Looking and tasting, it is obvious there is alabor of love going into the dish. The Boss Hog was good. A big sandwich with a little of everything. Don?t get me wrong, it isa great way to get the full experience but the wings were the winner today! Evan's is the best BBQ in the area. Great atmosphere and excellent food. We had pulled pork sandwich, ribs, Jalapeño cornbread,... slaw and BBQ beans. All of it was really good. Sauce was delicious. We will be back soon. Read more
This is one of the few places I have been that I feel genuinely deserves all 5 stars. They hit perfect on service, atmosphere,... and most importantly food. Their BBQ was not dry at all. It was moist and savory. My wife got the ribs and they were amazing. Iam not a huge fan of the "egg-roll" thing, but the remoulade it is served with made up for the sort of weird wrapper. Thatsaid, the sides were amazing as well. The greens were seasoned without being overly salted, the Brunswick stew was good withoutbeing just glorified BBQ sauce. Understand, I do not usually like sweet style sauces, but their sauce is good. Their spicy sauceis even better in my opinion, but I highly recommend you try this place out. When we go back, I am getting the smoked wings andthe peach cobbler. Update: Yes, the service was fantastic. I can not remember the young lady who waited on us, but she and therest of the staff in general care about your food and experience?I was impressed.
