A very serendipitous find for us in Victoria! An old pump house beautifully converted into a restaurant with great outdoor... seating that overlooks the river. Service was attentive and friendly and the food was very well prepared and excellent. Thefried green tomatoes were perfectly breaded with a crispy coating that stayed out when I bit into a nicely seasoned slide withthe acidic bite being perfectly fresh yet decadent (the mayo and cheese on top is unnecessary imho). Salads were fresh and theasked for side proteins were perfectly cooked with the pecan crusted chicken definitely on the OMG good category! Desert ofpecan pie was good but somehow a slight letdown with the lack of pecans but still good. Absolutely excellent servicecomplemented everything. On our recommendation list!! Read more

Food was excellent! I visited this restaurant years ago and couldn?t wait to come back. I was disappointed that all my favorites... had been removed from the menu and the service was terrible. Our waitress kept disappearing and was really really slow. I expecta much higher level of service at this price point. I hope the bring back goddess. My Jen-Jen took me to The Pumphouse for a birthday dinner. They are having Chicken Kiev on special for $20, all proceeds going... to help the Ukrainian people. Wow! Plus it was a fantastic dish with mashed potatoes and green beans and a nice roll. Sadly, wedidn't like the Fish Tacos and didn't eat the offering. Too fishy even for me. Not sure what went wrong. This place looks nice from first glance, but the place is crawling with ferral cats and it smells like cat urine all over the... outdoor patio. Too bad because sitting outside on the patio near the water would have been nice if it wasn't so smelly. The foodwas good, I have to fairly admit, but the service was poor. After spending all day shooting a documentary in Schroeder, we wentthere for a late lunch. Our server actually stopped on her way to bring our drinks to visit with people at another table whilewe sat there parched watching her hold our drinks hostage on her tray while she spoke with them for about 6 or 7 minutes. Ithad already taken her 10 minutes to bring them out. We decided our wrap-up event with the crew wouldn't happen at this place.We decided a another restaurant would be a better choice. Read more

First off the food was wonderful! We had 2 appetizers, the mac & cheese bites and the fried pimento cheese bites. Both were so... good 1 of our kids even liked them. My kids got the grilled pb&j (which was a good twist on regular pb&j) and the sliderburgers...I was under the impression that he was getting 2 but it was 1 and a bit bigger than a regular slider so all was good.My youngest complained about the taste of the burger only because it was done on a grill and he isn't used to the smoke taste ofa burger done on a pit. My husband and I got the fish tacos that he said were good and I got the crab stuffed red fish (it wasnot "stuffed") the crab meat mixture was on top and the lemon butter was just thrown on top in a clump in the middle (in thepicture I have already spread it out over the fish). For a resturant that I could tell put time into presentation I thought thelemon butter could have been placed on the fish nicer. The reason for giving 4 stars and not 5: our server was not veryattentive and our food did not come out all together. We got drinks, she didn't ask if we wanted appetizers, so when shereturned with our drinks we let her know we wanted appetizers. She didn't take our food order until we were done eatting ourappetizers. I know at this point you are thinking I could have grabbed her when she passed by...problem was she never came backoutside to grab her and tell her. Our food finally started coming out but the only thing that came out was both of my boys foodand mine and my husband's salads. We waited probably 30-40 minutes for my husband's and my entries to come out AFTER we werealready done with our salads (luckily we gave ourselves a 2 hr. window for lunch). I then had to track her down to get theticket. There was 2 large groups that came in shortly after us and they got their food about the same time our first round offood came out. So the venue is really neat looking. It?s nestled in the Riverside Park, fairly close to the Texas Zoo. Really cool building... inside and out. The menu isn?t very large and doesn?t have as many options as I expected. Chicken dishes, pasta, hamburger. Iwent with the Pecan Chicken over pasta because the server recommended it. It was good but different. I don?t know if I likedthe pecans. Haha. The server was polite and attentive with refills.
