Reviews for The Ruby on Johnson in Victoria, BC
Hip, modern breakfast place in downtown Victoria. There is a mini market when you walk in. You can get homemade jam, gluten free... flour, canned good and a number of other items. There is a great selection of bennys to choose from. We had omelettes and theywere great. Service was excellent. The coffee did not taste great so hopefully it was just an off day with the coffee. If you?re close to Ruby?s then it?s a must go! I went there with a group for breakfast and the food was sooo delicious! I would... highly recommend any of their beef brisket dishes! I wish I stayed in Victoria longer so I got to try more dishes. Read more
Solid 4. Bright and modern atmosphere. Stopped by for brunch, wait listed 30 mins for a table for 2. Service, decent, though... some delays for drinks. Fried chicken waffles; good waffles, over fried chicken/batter. Extremely bland gravy. Beef brisketBenny croissant: delicious brisket, my only gripe is the smallish amount of meat. Nothing special about the breakfastpotatoes/hash. Iced Americano: not bad. Overall presentation, good. Overall value: meh. Read more
1 hour wait outside, really popular place on weekends. Waitress was really friendly. Food was really delicious after long wait... but unfortunately I got sick right after eating here. Please check your salmon if it?s fresh or not. Read more
We just waited for less than 10 minutes around 10 o?clock. Bright and cosy, nice services , yummy food! Berry waffle... recommended! For me, I prefer the Ruby more than Blue Fox! Read more
I think I just had the most perfect breakfast at The Ruby. After torturing myself by having to choose just ONE meal off their... extensive menu, the Brisket Benny was a top notch choice. It was absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere was absolutley perfect fora leisurely Saturday breakfast, made extra perfect by the live musician sporting an acoustic guitar. I'll be in a good mood forthe rest of the day, courtesy of The Ruby. Read more
To keep it simple, this place is insanely tasty. The food is on par with the top breakfast places in Victoria. Beautifully... plates, smells amazing and generous portions. What makes the Ruby stand out the most is it?s service. As studies who are highbroke, our waitress was very considerate in all aspects. Not only was the service great, but she took the time to get to know usas well! Fun facts! There is even live music and in comparison to other similar restaurants the wait time to get a seat isrelatively short. Read more
Super tasty breakfast/brunch spot, great downtown fixture. The live music (nice acoustic guitar both times we've gone) on... Saturday mornings is always a plus. Breakfast is a very fulfilling portion size, and their specialty drink menu has some funoptions to spruce things up. We got the Fried Egg Sandwich and the Breakfast Burger, plus the lavender lemonade and peachhibiscus blended iced tea (both very refreshing, also non-alcoholic). Fried Egg Sandwich was scrumptious but be warned, it's amessy one - definitely recommend cutting it in half for easier eating. Only main drawback for me at least is that the roomlayout and accoustics + their volume setting for their amps make it pretty loud when the music's playing, so a little bit hardto have a conversation or could be overwhelming if loud noise gets to you (not ear-hurting loud, just noisy).
