Shizen is always consistent and a great value sushi joint in Victoria. It's not the fanciest, but the food is great and there's... plenty of variety. Read more

Came in as a solo diner on a Friday night in autumn. I was able to sit right away. Service was very quick, my food came out... extremely fast (I ordered three items) The appetizer tempura was a huge portion! My only suggestion for this spot would be tohave a drink menu available. I definitely chose this location because it was liquor licensed but I had to ask my server aboutdrinks. My server was awesome. I was really impressed that he asked if I had any allergies. I love the decor and would love tocome back with a group and sit in the Japanese style booth Read more

We waited for a short while before being seated. The food took a while to come, but it was worth the wait! My husband got two... rolls (Vancouver and Tokyo) while I get the soupy udon at almost every Japanese restaurant I go to if they have it. The udoncame with 3 types of fish, I think the two thinner slices were the same kinds but those were better than the other two slices. The udon and soup were not the best I've had but they were good enough, and my husband was pleased with the rolls he ordered. The whole deal! To passer by this hole in the wall provides a whole meal for a good deal. Despite lower prices, food is of... great quality. This was one of the cheaper chirashi in town. Despite that I got three pieces of tuna, three sockeye salmon, three tai, two hokkagai, two scallops and one ika with delicious correctly done rice. There were two tomago that were passiblebut could have been better. Regardless, the food was great so I had to order more. A negitoro maki and two ikura nigari. Makiseems to be the similar price as other restaurants. The nigari is cheaper than the 5 star restaurants but just as good. Somecome here! It's often busy but if you're by yourself cozy up to the bar, watch the chefs in action and have a chat with theservers. Even if it was busy they still provided time to chat. Read more

A pretty classic sushi place with decent salmon. The tuna is definitely better than in Ontario. The business got a little too... busy to the point where the service was fairly slow. But the food is well priced and satisfying. Read more

The BEST sashimi ever!! Tuna just melt in my mouth. Buttery taste, super fresh and not frozen. Its not in my picture because we... finished them so quickly?salmon was good, too. Their rolls were just okay though, I?d get all sashimi. Friendly and fastservice. Reasonably priced, I?d say it?s a steal from the quality of sashimi we had. The same food in Toronto would cost twotimes more. Read more

Good sushi, fast service! I give it 4 stars as it is casual/ not top refined decor or finished or elegant plating , but it's... great value and they do a few improved than typical.places, like having eggplants and mushrooms ( rather than just rootvegetables) in their tempura. They have the basic drink (2 wines sake cold or hot), but not extended menu. I would go back withfriends or casual eat :) Read more

Edited review: I live nearby to Shizen and it?s very much become one of my favourite spots in town. I?m never disappointed with... my choices. The Islander is my go to roll, but the Highlander is also memorable, despite not being fish based. The rolls hereare not the largest in town, but made with quality fish and thoughtfully considered. Much love to the lovely staff who carriedthrough the uncertainty of the pandemic. ?? Quite enjoyed the islander roll! Shrimp tempura with creamy avocado inside, coveredwith salmon, tuna, and a little seaweed salad. Also pictured is the beginner sushi lunch special, not my fav, but still goodvalue! Read more
