Stuck between a 3 & 4 star, because the gluten filled crab meat is set (open and uncovered) next to all other condiments and... toppings. I’m told that all other ingredients are Gluten Free, but this high possibility of cross contact of a gluten filleditem makes it unsafe for a person with Celiac Disease. All food items are nestled VERY close to each other and as I watched theserver, there indeed was dropping of other toppings into other ingredients. My non-Celiac child did end up eating there, but Idid not feel completely safe doing so. That’s my reason for rating (cross contact). I was told over phone that it’s safe,after seeing this in person, I will say it is not safe. My non Celiac child did enjoy her meal. The floors were dirty and thetable tops. seating was provided outside. There’s a nice view of the street and surrounding stores. Cute neighborhood. Decentparking. *edit* While I understand that this business may take heart to this and has been in a way “vetted” by Celiac Scene,I am standing in my truth in what I experienced when we visited this site. The employee did NOT bring bowl to/near theingredients and serve as mentioned by employee in response of this review. There in fact are gluten filled ingredients in thisfacility, making it not fully a 100% GF/ no cross contact facility. I would ONLY say it is. 100% GF and no CC facility if it infact was—- but this is not (so far). There was spilling over of toppings into other food containers. That’s why I gave 3stars, lack of one star because of the cross contact (NOT cross contamination, as mentioned in response by employee in review.Just some education for the difference between “cross contact” and “cross contamination”… Cross contamination dealswith salmonella and “cross contact” deals with gluten filled food items touching other food items that have no gluten.) Giving a five because it's better than a 4 and the only reason not a full 5 is third time in last couple years you were out of... white rice, I suppose because I came closer to end of day (but one time was mid-day). It's quite an integral ingredient and hadI known I wouldn't have come but I was hungry so ordered anyway ... Also marinated tuna, shouldn't that be marinated not plainand mixed on the spot with sauce (2nd time for that). Staff are great and otherwise very fresh ingredients. Read more
This is my absolutely favorite place to eat in all of victoria. I live outside of town and make a point to have my meals here... when I have business in town. Sometimes I ride my bicycle from the ferry terminal which takes 2 hours, and then have a leisurelymeal while my bicycle battery charges up before I go back or run other errands. I love the combination of foods and the flavorexplosion from putting together a slightly different combination every time. I love that all the seafood is sustainablyharvested! I hope that we can soon go back to ceramic plates and metal cutlery! I loved that I could still go there to eat wheneverybody was demanding vaccine passports, and since I don't have one, nobody here bugged me about it. Thank you so much to theowner Avi Read more
Poke Fresh is the best Poke spot on Vancouver Island. The staff are super friendly and attentive and the food is incredibly... Fresh. I usually go with a Custom Poke bowl with extra tuna (for only $1.50 more.) The portions are huge to a point that mytake away lid could barely close. You should go. Read more
Good staff makes the difference between a happy and unhappy customer. Placed an online order today but the system was down and... order disappeared; no worries it happens. The rep was very apologetic and quickly redid my order again (even though I’m sureshe was quite busy with other orders) and offering extras for free; made up for the inconvenience. The food itself was a hiddengem. Everything was super fresh and flavours balanced nicely. Portions were generous, enough to have the other half for dinner.Thus the value you get is amazing. I will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu, well done. Read more
Best Poke in town! Staff are always friendly and food is as fresh as it can be. PS. Hawaiian bowl is a go to.
