Reviews for Menbow Ramen Bar -- Authentic Japanese Ramen in Victoria, BC
It was absolutely an amazing and authentic Japanese ramen. When I saw the photos, I thought the noodle was instant noodle, but I... was definitely wrong. The noodle was the most authentic ramen noodle I had in the greater Victoria, and the firmness wasperfect. Also there soup base, such a creamy and rich pork soup but with the decorations of crispy onions and crispy garlic anda hint of sourness from other ingredients or spices, it was not heavy at all. And you can make it a combo with fried chicken andsalad for only 3.5 bucks extra, such a good deal! I will definitely come back and try more. Read more
This place was amazing! Went here two times over my weekend stay here and the Spicy Shoyou with chicken broth was amazing both... times. First time I ordered with tofu and the second time I ordered with pork. I liked the pork better than the tofu. Staff waslovely, service was quick and portions were huge. Highly recommend! Read more
Compared to Vancouver ramen, this place holds its own. I had tonkotsu black which had a very strong flavorful soup base. The... noodle amount was generous and with added extra chashu I was more than full. There were a lot of other ingredients such asmushroom, bamboo shoots, and spinach. I also tried my partner's clear shoyu ramen which had a very clean fish like flavour whichI liked better. Big pieces of chashu. Noodle is normal firmness and thickness. Meat is pork shoulder, not belly so it is lean. This place beats or matches some places in Vancouver at least for the flavours we selected Read more
Four of us were out looking to try a new Ramen bar and we went in with great expectations. We love a good bowl of ramen and have... tried it in a lot of restaurants - ones that specialize in ramen and other that have a ramen on a mixed menu. We’ve had ramenin New York, Japan and on Vancouver Island. The service at Menbow was lovely and the varieties of ramen on the menu were great.Sadly all four of us agreed that the ramen broth and noodles were not really that awesome. We found the broth a bit bland andthe noodles may have been undercook? We’ve been spoiled I guess. Next time we’ll be going back to Ghost Ramen. Read more
Cute little place with delicious ramen. Good selection of options for style, taste, spiciness, broth, and all that other good... stuff. Staff was really helpful with explaining your order so you got what you wanted depending on your preferences. That's abonus for someone who doesn't eat ramen too much. Plenty of noodles too so don't order extra noodles unless you really want toeat a pound of noodles. NOODLES. Might want to book ahead because it's a small seating area and apparently very popular. Walked into Menbow Ramen Bar randomly for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and bright... with a good layout making for a comfortable place to eat. The menu was simple and easy to order from. The ramen itself wasdelicious and just as good as anything we have in Vancouver. The broth was rich and flavorful, noodles had a great al dente chewto them, and the toppings were fresh and complimented and made the bowl whole. The ramen was nice and hot but my favorite partwas the ice cold Asahi. Service was quick and staff were engaging and friendly; thank you Evelyn and co.! Read more
Casual ramen spot in downtown Victoria. Fast service was a plus. The ramen was great on a cold night. Initially the vegetable... toppings were cold on top and that was a bit of a turn off… and the egg wasn’t quite poached correctly. A great ramen spotin town but nothing spoke to me as extraordinary… nonetheless, friendly staff and a filling portion. Read more
