While visiting Vancouver island I stopped by Koto Sushi Izakaya. I came by around 8 pm on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was... not busy. Upon entering the restaurant the dim lighting provides a nice ambience. I was seated in the front of the restaurant.Overall my experience here was ok. The sushi was good and the prices were not bad. The service good have been better as itseemed I had to wait for some time before I could order and for the food to come to my table. Other than this I would stillcome back next time I am in town. Went for a big sushi dinner with two friends and their little one, who have just moved to town. Great spot, beautifully... decorated. Prompt, personable server, joking with us and the wee one at our table! The appies came quick, and the sake pouredeasily (and responsibly ????) Sushi rolls were incredibly delicious! We will definitely be coming back for more! Read more

Could be like a Cheers. This place has a charm to it. Family run business that is trying to make their restaurant look like... number one despite some fatigued looking seats. Nevertheless, the food is good and there are lots of places for a group to sit. And plenty to see. Read more

It's a restaurant I'll definitely come back with friends again. It's not ballyhooed style but I can taste its persistence in... classic, delicious Japanese cuisine in a concrete nice way - it's worth of money in such a hustle tourism place, with nice Asiansmile and patient services. 5 stars! I haven't given a restaurant such a low rating in a long long time but this just really was that bad. We ordered take out and as... soon as we took a bite of everything we felt robbed and just wanted all our money back. This place is not cheap ($8 for 5dumplings.) The "crispy" dumplings were actually horribly soggy, greasy and lacking any flavour. The panko cheese tasted likeprocessed cheese. But the worst was the udon noodle with beef. zero flavour at all in the broth. Even my partner who eatsEVERYTHING said it was awful and just tried to poor a bunch of salt and pepper into it to get any taste. And he observed thatthe noodles were overcooked. It hurts to pay this much to dine out and be so badly disgusted by the food you just spent afortune on. Read more

We had a dinner at the restaurant and ordered Sashimi. After a long time of waiting, we finally have some sashimi on the table.... But after I picked one from the plate, I found the parasite inside the Salmon Sashimi. I thought that was something else but Itried to remove it. But I can?t. Why? Because it is INSIDE. And then I asked what was it to the server. Then the server checkedwith the chef and replied to us that the chef confirmed that was not parasite without any other explanations. Oh sorry, I am toodumb. What a beautiful blood clot looking just like a parasite. :) Read more

Not a bad sushi place but one that left me feeling just satisfied and wishing we had done something different. We did not try... anything to crazy just wanted a light meal. Ambiance was decent, with booth and tables. Miso soup was best part, the sashimiwas just ok. Was not a fan of The spicy tuna roll. It was thick and sauce forward and not spicy. Was like eating canned tunaand was not pleasant, probably the worst I have ever had. Still have it 3 stars as staff was nice and we had limited selectionof menus. Oh the menu?s where in bad shape, so bad I almost did it want to flip it over. The table was also sticky. We willnot go back. Read more
