Well... We were hoping to eat somewhere else but it was reserved for a private gathering, then we noticed this place was empty... except 3 people at 1 table. We thought hey! We'll get served quick why not try it out? This was on a Friday Night so arestaurant being that empty on a Friday night should have been our red flag, but we were hungry. I ordered the Loaded Burger(Bacon, Fried Egg, Patty) and my wife ordered the chicken burger. My burger tasted like pure pepper and the chicken burgertasted like watered down, slightly chlorine.. which is a real shame.. the waitress was really nice and friendly, that's why thisis not a 1 star. I sat on the booth but my legs were just hanging on nothing, I'm almost 6 feet tall I should at least have somefoot rest. I had to scooch to the edge and it wasn't comfy. The high chair was fine though. The whole experience was justdisappointing, we left hungry. Honestly, we would have rathered the food at McDonald's.. Read more

Stopped in at JR Slims for a bevy as we contemplated dinner plans. We came into town to go to Finns but sadly it was closed. As... things often work out, we met Dave, the bar keep at JR’s. What a gentlemen! We asked about alternate seafood restaurants andhe recommended Nelies. We enjoyed his hospitality so much we came back for a night cap after dinner. Go meet Dave, you’ll behappy you did! Read more

We stopped by here on a food tour while at port during a cruise. Even though it was very late, and they were extremely busy,... they were very accommodating and made sure we were made to feel welcome. The beer was great and the crab croquette they made uswas scrumptious. I’d definitely come back here to try more of their menu. Read more

I have only been here once other than karaoke nights and its great, however, the karaoke night (soon to be 2 nights) is a joke.... They don't know what they are doing at all with karaoke. They don't make a rotation of singers they just let the same peoplesing over and over. If you are gonna offer this make sure you know how to host. Only giving the 2 star for Andy and the servingteam. I recently watched the Champions League final at JR Slims. It was my very first time there and let me tell you, I have no... regrets. The restaurant floor is open and full of lots of light. It has a simple but elegant feel to it. The location is rightDowntown so super accessible and easy to get to. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to makesure our experience was a great one. I had the Baja fish tacos. The portions were huge and the food was delicious. All in alla great dining experience. Read more

Good service, good location, good food at comparable prices. Heated outdoor patio with tables and bar stool seating available... during these unusual COVID-19 times. Service was friendly and welcoming. Location is great at the foot of Yates Street(intersection with Wharf Street), a short walk from the Inner Harbour, Bastion Square, and the Johnson Street Bridge. I hadpreviously ordered the Sirloin Steak (7 oz) with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli ($25) via a delivery service: I was verygood so decided to try JR Slims in person. My Crispy Calamari ($12.50) was a bit on the small size but was fresh, crispy andsatisfying. It includes deep-fried jalapenos, diced onions, and dip. It went well with my Red Sangria ($8.50). I tried Sarah'sTurkey Burger with Crinkle Fries ($16.75) which was not as large as I expected. However, the formed turkey patty is nicelyseasoned and the burger flavourful. Overall, good food at comparable prices, good location with outdoor seating and friendlyservice. Read more

I went to JR Slims a weak ago and I had a great experience overall. I have some notes to point out and describe my experience in... detail about our newly opened pub in town. 1. The Staff and the Manager: They were are all pretty polite and friendly and thewaitress was supportive. We were sort of the last group who left the restaurant and the manager had a friendly chat with us andasked our general opinion about the pub. 2. The Drinks: The beer collection was not diverse and they only serve ocal breweries(Driftwood, Philips, Hoyne) which I personally always prefer. The cocktail menu was also limited, but creative.  I tried"Mo-vito", "when doves cry", and "buffalo peach". They were all tasting smooth, refreshing, and serving in 2oz measures. Theprosecco cocktails were generally delicious, enough bubbly, and fresh. I tried "Manmosa", and "Kashmir" and they were bothexactly festive as I expected. 3. The Food: The steak was fabulous! and It was cooked as I asked and juicy as I expected. Myfriend ordered a double cheeseburger he liked it. The noodle was also looking delicious. In general, I liked their vibe, ambiance, variety of seat sets, staff behavior, and of course the location. They absolutely worth a try, if you are looking toget detached from your daily stress and refresh within a night. You'll like the new spot. Read more
