We had the pleasure of dining at Walnut Hills last night. The setting (an old historic house) and the history of the restaurant... was so interesting. The service was friendly and efficient. We had the gumbo and a house salad as well as the famous friedchicken (there's a reason it's famous! Yum) and sides. Everything was delicious! The Old fashion cocktail was very unique andoutstanding. Took home a slice of Italian Cream cake and we savored every bite. Read more
The food was really good. Highly recommend the blackened catfish! Edited to add that the cake is also delicious! We had the... double chocolate and the strawberry cake. Our waitress said they were "two-day" sliced because they took you two days to eat, ittook us 3 days. Worth it. It's a cute restaurant that had some history with it which we enjoyed as we traveled throughVicksburg. Read more
Monday 2/21/22 First my group was placed by the restroom, people entering and exiting.we asked several times before 11am to... change our table, nothing happened, until someone in our party continues to complain. Yes they finally moved us, but why wouldanyone be placed by a bathroom? I asked for a carry out the amount of food was for a 2 year old, I don't eat much but I counted10 green beans. Chicken looked like it was bantam chicken. My friend had the same experience. This was my first and last. Iwill let my friend know about my experience. Hope this will help with custom service. No I didn't pay for the food. I was withthe birthday group. I feel she should get her money returned for the 2 take out. The reason I did the take out I had anotherengagement. Read more
Stopped here for dinner. All the staff was friendly and prompt. All the workers had masks on. The restaurant was an old house... and was very nice. Our food was hot and delicious. I had the fried chicken which was really good. My husband had the house saladand a bowl of gumbo. He said both were excellent. We will stop here again when we travel through Vicksburg. Read more
This is a must eat when you?re in Vicksburg. This was our first time here, from Texas. I got the catfish, they?re huge and... delicious! French fries were weird with an onion ring like batter on them but so so good! I want more. Their biscuits are sodelicious. CAKES WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD! You have to get cake!!! Read more
First, getting seated at a table took quite awhile...like a long, long time. Not because it was that crowded, but apparently... they don't have someone dedicated to getting people seated. So your best option is to basically flag someone down and let themknow you're there. Overall a really great dinner for the family! The food was fantastic and out waiter, Tyler was mostlyprompt, courteous and genuine. Although he made a mistake in bringing us the wrong appetizer (and shouldn't have charged us,but did); he did an otherwise great job...lots of hussle, effort and friendly service. We did notice another table that wasupset over there slow initial service as well (not Tyler's customer)...so the service may be a little lacking initially. I hadthe World Famous chicken with southern grits and asparagus. Everything was great! My wife loved her Fettuccine Alfredo withshrimp. She thought it was perfect. My son loved the shrimp & grits as well. We also had a piece of their fantastic chocolatecake...super rich and fluffy! A definite must visit if you're in town... we'll definitely be back when we're in town! Read more
