We decided on trying the Oar based on many good reviews. Our expectations were high only to be disappointed.\nAmbiance :... decorated storefront in a narrow in inviting room.\nDrinks: limited wine and beer selection\nFood: most important topic whichwas ok at best. We ordered the grilled octopus and sent it back absolutely terrible and loaded with salt which we sent back aswe couldn?t eat it. We also had the chibatta bread and some type of flavored butter which also was way too salty. We ordered thegrilled salad which was ok and a speciality salad with mixed greens strawberries walnuts and some type of Chardonnay vinagarettedressing. No hint of vinagarette or Chardonnay only oil. Our main course was pork chop over sweet potatoe purée. It tasted okbut then again it?s a pork chop not hard to mess up. The other entree was Parmesan crusted chicken in a cream sauce and thatalso was ok.\nWe opted for no deserts .\nOverall way overpriced with a limited menu. The pork chop is their signature dish perour server which should indicate the fine dining aspect is all but gone. Would not return. Read more
Such a wonderful meal!!! The restaurant itself was very intimate with a great atmosphere; a refreshing change from the hustle... and bustle of other fine dining restaurants. Our server Kevin was attentive and knowledgeable and the Owner/Chef checked on ourtable personally. The food was incredible! We got the swordfish special, the pork chop (a must order!!!!), and the pear vanillacaramel cake. All of it was perfection. This is a real Vero Gem, if you want a delicious meal, an inviting atmosphere and tosupport a local business, make The Oar your next dinner spot! Read more

We were visiting from the Orlando area and decided to try The Oar based upon its high Google rating. It\'s no wonder why this... restaurant has had such positive reviews. Dinner was a wonderful experience at this quaint and classy, yet down to earthrestaurant. The wait staff was so pleasant and efficient. We shared the ciabatta bread with garlic butter and Manhattan fishchowder, both so fresh, light and nicely prepared.\nI had the scallops which were seared perfectly and my husband had aphenomenally made pork chop with delectable garnishment. It was truly the best pork chop he\'s ever had. We ended the meal withthe dessert of banana fritters accompanied by homemade peanut butter and strawberry ice cream. Outstanding!\nIf we lived closerthis would be a local treasure which we would probably frequent weekly! Read more
