To be honest the only good part of our visit was Rachel. Rachel was polite, helpful, and delightful. This is my first time... coming here since the change in ownership. I used to come here all the time and loved it. Zandra (?) took over and wasincredibly rude and aggressive. The new owner was even worse. The food we got was all bad, it used to be great. Pizza was bad.Miss the old risotto, this risotto was watery and bland. Crème brulee was curdled and basically charcoaled. Read more

This is the best place to buy wine in West Ventura County. Their prices are great and they have good options at every price... point. I absolutely love the Cave! Their menu changes monthly and it's all small plates so you can try a few different things. Idon't think I've ever been disappointed, the food is excellent! They could use a few more pescatarian-friendly options. I alsolove the enomatic machines. Again, small portion options allow you to sample many different wines without getting drunk. Thenyou can buy your favorite at the store. Read more

Cannot recommend a better place for lunch or dinner. Food is always excellent as is the service at The Cave. Wine selection and... knowledge of wines offered by the staff is outstanding and prices cannot be beat. A pleasure to drop in for a bottle or a meal, always treating out of town family & friends to a visit. Read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants and wine stores in Ventura! The prices on wine are fabulous and we love choosing our... bottle to take in to dinner. The food is spectacular and the prices are very reasonable. We went to the Cave two nights lastweek and it did not dissappoint. Such a great find! Read more

Specifically talking about The Cave here, buried deep inside (just to the right) the building. Though, the wine shop is solid... too. Hey now, a place where you can drink by either 1, 3 or 5 oz. pours! Plus food! Not to bury the lead, but the food thatI?ve tried here has been decent. We got the special burger (which that day was a chorizo one), the turkey burger (calledsomething like the Cave woman), the Ventura salad and tried the butterscotch pudding for dessert. Chorizo Burger: one thing istrue for both of the burgers, I applaud them for attempting to bake their own buns, but they really didn?t work. Dry and crunchyare not really adjectives I like to use for my burger buns. However, remove those and this is a really winner. It was twopatties of chorizo, some smashed avocado, some lettuce and a spicy aioli. I got it with the side salad, so it really because achorizo salad -- and there?s nothing wrong with that at all. Turkey Burger: I?m not the biggest fan of turkey in any form, butthis wasn?t too shabby. Once again, ditch the bun and you?ll have a happier burger eating experience. Got this one with thepotato salad, which was basically smashed potatoes with mayo. That might sound questionable at best, but I promise, once youstart nibbling it, you won?t be able to stop. Ventura Salad: a solid a little salad with spicy ranch dressing, roasted corn, avocado, onions and tortilla strips (because why not?). We got the large and I?m happy, as it?s not very big.Tasty. Butterscotch Pudding: this was the biggest letdown. We weren?t wholly convinced it wasn?t Jell-O, which isn?t necessarilya bad thing, but it also wasn?t the highlight of the meal. Couple the solid food with serve your own wine (based on yourprepaid card) and good service and you?ve got a nice little hang out joint here. I?ve heard that the weekends get a littlecrazy, which I can imagine, as it?s not a big place, but when we went on a Wednesday, it wasn?t bad at all. Read more

I didn't even know this place existed. The actual restaurant part of the store, The Cave, is really small. It's about the size... of a high school classroom. I had the Ace Burger and it was awesome. I don't really drink wine, but the prepaidDave-and-Busters-type card and the self serve wine machines are a lot of fun. It was fairly inexpensive and laid backconsidering how good everything is.
