It?s great to have El Gaucho in Vancouver on the waterfront. It?s so much nicer than traveling into Portland for a great steak... dinner. The space is a bit smaller than the Portland location and they are definitely trying to pack in customers as we wereplaces in the middle of the room at a two top and felt in the way of everyone. We would have rather waited longer than to be putin the middle if the room. The new staff is great and very accommodating. There was a mixture of very different customers aswell. There were people on fist dates, people in business meetings, to a guy in pajama pants and a sweatshirt. Apparently theyare not doing the after dinner cheese plate anymore, which is a bit disappointing as it was always a welcome treat. Read more

Excellent Top Shelf Dining Experience finally in Vancouver. I'm a long time El Gaucho fan who stopped going to the Portland... location because of worsening issues involved with driving into Portland and , more importantly, the increasingly pathetic"Portland downtown experience" . The minute you enter El Gaucho Waterfront, you feel welcome . The initial impact of the décorand ambiance of the guitar music was refreshingly classy . The subdued lighting and the signature open kitchen just add to theEl Gaucho experience. The booth where I was seated was perfect, giving me a great view of the dining area. Table service wasprompt with a great start consisting of garlic bread and drinks. I ordered the Grilled Pork Belly and the Steak Diane withLobster Mashed Potatoes. The Pork Belly was decent but in my opinion , lacked something. The Steak Diane service tableside onthe other hand was an over -the -top excellent steak experience. Super tender filets serve with an expertly crafted flambeed Diane sauce accompanied by that wonderful Lobster mashed potatoes. The meal ended with the signature Bananas Sherwood alsoflambeed tableside by the experienced and accomplished Stephan. Excellent!!!!! Service was impeccable----- always available BUTnot hovering. Again, Stephan is the man. Perfect service! Ambiance , as already mentioned , was perfect. Noise level was low andsubdued which allowed for great table conversation . Handicap doable and recommended. Valet service was available. Price wasdefinitely on the higher end but reasonable considering the service and quality of the dining experience. El Gaucho is anabsolutely great addition to the Vancouver Waterfront dining scene!!! Final take-----????????????BAM---GO!!! Enjoy El Gaucho ,especially if you are celebrating something special. I have always really enjoyed the El Gaucho and Portland so it was very fun to visit the new Vancouver location. The staff took... the utmost care and making sure that we had a good experience and the ambiance was wonderful. The food was Top Notch and overallwe had a wonderful experience for a birthday dinner with some friends. We did sit and kind of an overflow style of area and Ilike the decor and ambience of the inner restaurant area better, although we had an incredible water view from our table. Thebar area is also very charming. Kind of old worldly. Read more

I was excited to eat at El Gaucho in Vancouver this evening. It did not stand up to my expectations. The service was amazing.... However, I ordered the Filet Mignon and it was not very good. We also ordered the key lime pie also not very good. I do plan onreturning in 2 weeks, I will definitely be ordering something else. Maybe try the Steak Diane. Do not waste you money on theirfilet Mignon! Read more
